As a joint venture between two of Turkey’s most renowned producers, Medyapim and Ay Yapim, Madd Entertainment is diving head first into the world of international co-production, an area in which Latin America stands as a natural partner, given its affinity for Turkish content.
In fact, the Turkish producer already has two co-productions in the works in the region, as revealed to ttvnews by Managing Director, Ateş Ince, at the current Miptv in Cannes.
“We are about to announce a co-production of a Turkish title with a global studio, and we are doing another one with a free TV station from Latin America,” he said. “One will be produced mostly in Colombia, the other one will be in Mexico.”
According to the executive, one of the projects will be a 60-episode super series for broadcast TV and the other one will be a 10-episode miniseries for pay TV, both of which will combine Latin American on-screen talent with Turkish power behind the scenes.
“They will all be Latin American characters,” he explained. “Our story, Latin American talent, Latin American producers and our directors, who are going to go and work on location, and then we’ll do the first co-production.”
The broadcast TV project will not be a telenovela, but rather a “super series”, according to the MD, aimed at “local premium audiences in Latin America.”
Both productions will be distributed by Madd Entertainment and a trailer could be presented as early as the upcoming LA Screenings. “We are trying to finish the production of the trailer and if we are able to finish it, we will be announcing it at LA Screenings with our partner. It’s already in production,” he revealed.
The series will join the other series in Madd Entertainment’s catalog, My Little Girl and Crash, which have also made headlines in Latin America. “My Little Girl has been sold in many countries in the region and we are about to close in Mexico,” he said. “And Crash has already been sold in 5 or 6 countries in Latin America.”
And Madd’s newest title, Kuzgun, was presented at the current Miptv and will also be part of its catalog for the upcoming markets; a “modern romance story” which is currently on air in Turkey. “It’s going to be a total of 75 episodes. It’s a finished product,” he said.
“We have discussed it with clients in Argentina and Chile here at Miptv. It’s new and of course I think we will close a lot more deals at Mipcom,” he concluded.
