Whats New in LatAm This Week?

Netflix produces Mexican original and LatAm stand-ups, Globo dramas premiere in the US and UK, The Promised Land to premiere on Univision, Discovery Kids unveils first series with Juan José Campanella, and more.

This week, Netflix announced it's producing Diablero, a new original fantasy thriller filmed in Mexico; as well as 19 new stand-up specials for Latin America, featuring comedians from the region. Netflix also announced it will produce 50 projects in LatAm between 2017 and 2018.
Discovery Kids unveils the first production from the alliance with Juan José Campanella. The animated series Mini Beat Power Rockers will premiere on August 28 on Discovery Kids across Latin America. The series was produced by MundoLoco CGI, Campanella's animation studios.
Globo dramas premiere in the US and UK. Merciless and The Hunter have been acquired by the Walter Presents VOD service, available in Portuguese with subtitles in English. Walter Presents is part of Channel 4's online platform.
The Promised Land to premiere on Univision on August 7. This Monday, the network is following its double-episode finale of Joseph of Egypt with the premiere of the story of Joshua. The Promised Land will air Mondays through Fridays at 10:00pm.
Kanal D International strengthens its Latin American team. Days after announcing its restructure, the company's international area has appointed Mikaela Perez to the role of Sales executive for Latin America. Perez will be in charge of Kanal D's Latin American accounts.
