After the success with Grand Hotel, another Spanish series produced by Bambu Producciones for Atresmedia is having its American adaptation thanks, once again, to Eva Longoria.

After ordering the adaptation of Grand Hotel, US network ABC is now aiming for another Spanish series from Bambu Producciones and Atresmedia, once again with Eva Longoria behind the project.

According to Deadline, ABC won a bidding war between "multiple networks" for the adaptation rights of The Embassy, a fiction series created by Ramón Campos and Gema R. Neira, which aired on Antena 3 in 2016.

Thus, ABC has made a pilot order for the thriller under the title The Ambassador.

Names behind the project include former Empire showrunner Ilene Chaiken, as scriptwriter and executive producer; Eva Longoria and Ben Spector with their production company UnbelieEVAble Entertainment; Oly Obst with 3 Arts Entertainment; and 20th Century Fox TV as a studio.

"When I first saw The Embassy, I binge watched the entire season in one sitting. I told Ramon and Theresa we must do this together," Longoria said.

"After getting to know Ilene Chaiken on Empire there was no one else we could envision adapting this. Ilene took the original and reinvented it with such brilliance and panache. I can’t wait to produce this show alongside her," added the actress.

Across 13 episodes, The Embassy follows the story of the new Spanish ambassador in Thailand, where he moves to with his family. However, the luxurious universe in which the characters live will become the beginning of the end for his personal and professional life.

The Ambassador, however, will be set in France and begins with the death of the American ambassador in Paris in a stranger boating accident. Thus, his third wife Roxane Eagleton will take on the challenges of her new position as she also navigates the drama and intrigue of her late husband’s family while beginning to suspect that his death was not an accident.
