Argentina to End 2016 with 900,000 OTT Subscribers

A study by Dataxis assured that by the end of 2015 there were 730,000 subscribers and, for 2021, the number is expected to grow to 1.8 million. 

During the ninth edition of the NexTV Summit Series South America 2016 Conference, to be held between the 15 and 16 of June at the Plaza Hotel Buenos Aires, consulting company Dataxis presented its latest findings regarding the Argentine OTT market. 
 
On this note, Dataxis revealed that, by the end of 2015, the country had 730.000 OTT subscribers, 10 times more than by the end of 2011, year in which Netflix was launched in the country, when there were only 70.000 subscribers. 
 
According to projections, 2016 will come to a close with 900.000 subscribers and, in the next five years, by the end of 2021, those numbers will double to 1.8 million.  
 
Dataxis also ads that, taking into account the homes that share passwords to OTT platforms, the penetration numbers for streaming double, with 1.8 million homes accessing these kinds of services on 2015. 
 
For 2021, it mentions, there will be 4.6 million homes with access to OTT platforms. 
 
Furthermore, Dataxis compared the evolution of OTT with Pay-Tv, which will go from 8.6 million subscribers on 2016 to 9.8 million on 2021.
 
When it comes to revenue, OTT will collect 95 million dollars and reach 180 million on 2021, year in which Pay-Tv will reach 2.9 billion dollars.
