After the launch of Abducted, the first co-production between Caracol Television, MarVista Entertainment and Snap TV at Mipcom 2015; the three companies annnounced they will launch a new production at the LA Screeenings: Cup of Love, their second English-language co-production.
Cup of Love is a romantic comedy shot in Medellin and Antioquia in Colombia.
The movie, shot in English, stars Anna Hutchison (The Cabin in the Woods, Spartacus, Anger Management), Nikolás Rincón (Sin tetas no hay paraíso, Cumbia Ninja. K-dabra, Mentes en Shock) and Julián Arango (Metástasis, Yo soy Betty, la fea)
It tells the story of Zoe Walker, a lonely "food scientist" from Frenso, California, who visits Colombia during a business trip to find the perfect-tasting coffee. There, she meets Diego Fernando, a conservative owner of a coffee plantation, who refuses to sell his product unless Zoe helps him with his newest crop. Working together, Diego will help Zoe revive her passion for food and she will encourage his creativity.
"We want Cup of Love to follow in Abducted's footsteps, which is now in its first months of sales and has already been acquired in the US, Canada, France, Spain, Latin America on VOD and pay TV, US Hispanic, the Middle East, Portugal, Poland, Asia, the UK, Italy, Greece and Croatia," they said in a statement.
"This proves Latin American productions have opportunities to enter non-traditional markets when they take a new look at the traditional production model."
