Disney Channel announced the premiere of its new original production Juacas, a series shot entirely in Brazil in the beaches of Itacaré in Bahía, co-produced by Disney and production houses Cineflim and Chatrone.
The first episode will premiere on July 3 at 7:00pm on Disney Channel.
"Original productions are our strategy's focus, as they expand Disney channels' content offer through formats that strengthen the emotional connection with our audience. In this sense, we hope our fans enjoy and identify with the characters and the story of Juacas, which promotes healthy competition, contact with nature and sports as a lifestyle, in a story of challenges and lasting relationships," said Cecilia Mendonça, VP & General Manager, Disney Channels Latin America, The Walt Disney Company Latin America.
Juacas revolves around surf, telling stories from CAOSS (the Annual Super Surf Championship, which takes place in the beaches of Itacaré, Brazil), and shows the competition between the three main teams: the Juacas, the Red Sharks and the Mermaids.
In addition to surf, Juacas tells stories of overcoming challenges, the relationship between parents and kids, teenage struggles and love. It also highlights the importance of sports and nature.
The cast features André Lamoglia, Marino Caguçu and Bruno Astuti as the Juacas; Rafael Castro, Eike Duarte and Juan Ciancio (Peter Punk) as the Red Sharks, and actresses Larissa Murai (A Floreria de Naná), Mariana Azevedo and Isabela Souza as the Mermaids.
Juacas is co-produced by Disney with Cinefilm and Chatrone, and will premiere on Disney Channel on July 3.
