According to predictions from Digital TV Research, the yet-to launch streaming service from Disney has a good chance to hit its expected subscriber count, with the US leading the charge as the largest market by a distance.

Disney is going all out for the incoming launch of its own streaming service Disney+, and amidst several show announcements that are sure to attract audiences worldwide, the company also revealed its predictions for the platform.

When it comes to subscribers, Disney expects to reach between 60 and 90 million subscribers by 2024. An ambitious goal, but one which, according to research firm Digital TV Research, is entirely possible.

In fact, the firm says that Disney+ could have as many as 75 million subscribers worldwide by 2024, with the US leading the charge as the largest market by far with one third of the entire subscriber base, adding 5 million subscribers every year to reach a total of 25 million.

Following on second place predictions point to the UK, which will do its bit with 5.5 million subscribers. Then there’s Brazil with 4.2 million, and Canada with 3.1 million.

And looking at the numbers, the rise in subscribers is expected to be somewhat meteoric, especially if compared with Netflix, which is expected to reach 200 million subscribers by 2024. The streamer went international in 2016.

“The Disney brand is known and respected in every home across the world. Disney will deliver a reasonably-priced, attractive platform that has plenty of appealing content,” said Simon Murray, principal analyst at Digital TV Research, explaining what makes Disney+ so appealing.
