In a special presentation for the media hosted at the Navalcarnero city in Spain, FOX and Globomedia revealed new details about the third season of Vis a vis.
Originally aired in Spain through Atresmedia, company which then canceled the series after two seasons in March of 2016, the new season will premiere in Spain on FOX “in the next spring”, as revealed by the companies at the event.
“The series will premiere in the spring and for us, it’s the jewel in our crown. We have The Walking Dead and Modern Family, but we don’t care. This year we have Vis a vis,” said Daniel Pérez, general director of Fox Networks Group Spain.
While the original series aired on Atresmedia with 70-minute episodes, the companies revealed the new season will have shorter, 50-minute episodes, adapted to the FOX universe.
“We are changing something that’s key and that all of us, including the viewer, prefer, which is a format suited for the story. We will do 50 minute episodes, which is the ideal format,” said Iván Escobar, writer and producer of Vis a vis.
As a second new feature, the new season will see the inmates move to a new facility, where the Chinese mafia plays a major role. In this scenario, one of the new additions to the cast, Taiwanese actress Huichi Chiu, will play an important part.
Chiu is joining the cast for this new season, along with Luis Callejo, Abril Zamora, Ruth Díaz, Adriana Paz and Ana Marzoa; who join the original cast made up by Maggie Civantos, Najwa Nimri, Berta Vázquez, Alba Flores, María Isabel Díaz, Inma Cuevas, Laura Baena and Marta Aledo.
Distributed by Imagina International Sales, Vis a vis has a solid track record of accomplishments, including being the first Spanish series aired on broadcast TV in the UK on Channel 4, the first Spanish fiction to be included in Amazon Prime Video’s catalog in the US, and sales in over 65 countries around the world.
At the last edition of Mipcom, news was revealed that the BBC acquired the rights to adapt the series in the UK.
