This Wednesday, July 11, Netflix announced its third original series in Argentina: Puerta 7, a thriller created by Martin Zimmerman (Ozark, Narcos) and produced by Pol-ka, with a launch date set for 2019 on Netflix.
“We are delighted to continue investing in the wonderful content and talent Argentina has to offer, and especially to work on our new Argentine original with Pol-ka and the successful creators of shows like Los Simuladores and Ozark,” said Erik Barmack, VP of International Originals at Netflix.
Puerta 7 is written by Patricio Vega (Los Simuladores) and will have a first season made up of eight, one-hour episodes, shot entirely in 4k.
The fiction joins the long list of original productions for Netfilx in Latin America, including Edha, Go! Vive a tu Manera, Ingobernable, Club de Cuervos, La Casa de las Flores, Monarca, Siempre Bruja, Narcos, Samantha!, O Mecanismo, O Matador, 3%, Sintonía, Super Drags or Coisa Mais Linda.
“As a life-long football fan, we’ve always wanted to explore the intersection between sports, politics and crime in Argentina, one of the big football talent incubators worldwide and my mother’s home town,” said creator Martin Zimmerman. “There’s no better place for Netflix to take this football story to a lobal audience.”
“We are happy Netflix trusted Pol-ka to develop this original seris,” said Adrián Suar, founder and Artistic Director of Pol-ka. “From the start, our producer has worked hard, with our sights set on creating quality TV content and this deal makes us proud: it’s a big challenge we are taking on with all the passion, commitment and responsibility we put in every project.”
Puerta 7 is an inside look into the world of rabid sports fans and the intersection between sports, politics and organized crime. It will follow a woman’s attempt to overcome that world dominated by men, and eliminate corruption and crime in a club to redeem her family’s name.
