Maybe, it's not the end for Vis a vis. According to Spanish media outlets Bluper and Fórmula TV, Fox Spain is in talks to produce a third season of the Antena 3's jail fiction.
Although only a few details were revealed and those involved say "nothing's finalized yet," reports indicate the set would change, since it's currently being used to film La casa de papel,
the new Atresmedia series created by the same team behind Vis a vis (although now through Vancouver Media, the producer they founded after leaving Globomedia).
Vis a vis set a before and after in the Spanish fiction industry. With complex plots, evolving characters, risky plot twists and a frenetic pace, it represented a great leap forard and contributed substantially to the seal of quality Atresmedia series are known for.
In addition, it was the first broadcast TV Spanish series to air in the UK, after it was acquired by Channel 4.
Awarded on multiple occasions and praised by the critic, it was also a ratings' phenomenon in its first season: it averaged a 19.9% share and 3.5 million viewers.
However, audiences didn't stick around for season two and Antena 3 decided it was best to end the series on a high, and not risk it wearing out, so they decided not to renew it.
If rumors are confirmed, the new season of Vis a vis with Fox, would be the second time an Antena 3 series is continued on a pay TV platform: after four seasons on broadcast TV, Velvet made its way to Movistar+, which is about to premiere on pay TV and streaming the Velvet Collection.
The first two seasons of Vis a vis are distributed internationally by Imagina International Sales and Atresmedia International Sales.
