Audiovisual rights distribution platform B2B will now offer international buyers more than 25,000 hours of Spanish films and series thanks to deals closed with both companies.

RightsTrade, the online platform for the distribution of rights to series, movies and digital content that connects content owners, distributors and buyers, is now set to offer more than 25,000 hours of Spanish content.

The company has closed two new deals with RTVE and Movistar to incorporate into their offering several titles form their respective catalogs.

On the one hand, RTVE licensed numerous RTVE primetime series like El Continental, A Different View, Hounds, Vintage, Treason, or other daily dramas like Acacias 38, Six Sisters or To Serve and Protect.

In addition, RightsTrade will also offer documentaries shot in 4K like El Prado, a Passion for Painting or Spanish Cities, World Heritage Sites, as well as films, entertainment shows, musicals and competitions, among others.

According to María Jesús Pérez, Head of RTVE's International Sales Department, "at a time when Spanish audiovisual content has a growing international demand, our deal with RightsTrade represents a unique opportunity to enhance the international sale of our titles and optimize distribution processes through their innovative online tools."

On the other hand, Movistar is offering factual shows and limited series like Once I am Gone, the World in 25 Years From Today, At the Gates of Hell, Taboo and Other Worlds, in addition to niche content about Spanish cultural events.

"We are very excited to add RTVE and Telefonica's catalog to our platform. They are not only the leading companies in the Spanish-speaking market, but also international benchmarks for high-quality content," said Jaime Otero, General Director of RightsTrade.

Thanks to the deals, and as of the month of December, buyers registered in RightsTrade's online market -hailing from more than 5,000 companies - will be able to browse RTVE and Movistar's content and acquire the broadcasting rights of their respective shows for the territories in which they are available.

Back in 2015, RightsTrade was the winning startup of the MIPLab contest, which choses the best tech company offering solutions for TV and online video.
