Distributed internationally by the newly created Madd Entertainment and introduced to the international market during this year's Mipcpm, the show is already making a splash internationally, with sales in Europe and Latin America.
Turkish series have proven time and time again that they are here to stay, and to take advantage of this boom, Turkish producers have joined forces in a new joint venture that will l gather all their international content distribution rights in one company: Madd Entertainment.
The distributor was launched during this year edition of Mipcom and already boasts a success story for title My Little Girl, which has secured sales in Europe and Latin America, and it's poised to become the latest Turkish phenomenon.
Hot in the heels of it Mipcom debut, the show scored the first ever deal for Madd after being acquired by Greek company Victory, which licensed the show's rights for DVD. Back then, Özlem Özsümbül, Director of International Sales at Madd Entertainment spoke to ttvnews to confirm several deals were underway in Latin America, where the excitement for Turkish dramas continues as strong as ever.
Currently, after its MipCancun rounds, the distributor confirmed it closed its first sale in Latin America thanks to My Little Girl, which was sold to Chilean network Mega.
"We are very happy to put in the air My Little Girl, a story we believe will connect with audiences. Also, it's great to create a business relationship with Madd that I’m sure will provide us with great titles," said of the deal Juan Ignacio Vicente, Head of Content and International Bussines at Mega.
In addition, Peruvian broadcaster Latina announced during its Upfronts on Wednesday that the show will also air in Peru during 2019 under local title Hija. The premiere is already being promoted by the channel, although Madd hasn't made any official announcements regarding the deal.
Originally titled Kizim, the show is produced by Medyapim and airs on Turkey on TV8. It stars Beren Gökyıldız (Mother), Buğra Gülsoy and Lydia Tuğutlu in an endearing story about family, love, loss and fatherhood.
Currently ongoing, the show was a first season planned with over 100 episodes of 45 minutes each, and is expected to return for more seasons.
My Little Girl follows eight-year-old Öykü, an exceptional and very empathetic little girl whose world comes crashing down when her aunt, who has been her caregiver since birth, abandons her and forces her to find her father Demir. Unfortunately Demir is irresponsible adult and a swindler who gets arrested the day Öykü comes to find him.
Wanting nothing to do with her, he is forced to take care of Öykü after he is released by the court on the condition that he does so. Forced to face fatherhood, Demir must confront Öykü’s little secret and put up an extraordinary fight to save her.
