Because having announced its distribution just a few weeks ago in February, that very month Inter Medya made its way to Discop Dubai with the announcement of a major deal
for the drama with Mega in Chile.
"We are very proud to be working with them again and I believe it’s going to be a huge success for everyone," said Can Okan, CEO of Inter Medya, who spoke to ttvnews at the event about the new agreement with the Chilean network, for which it has very high hopes due to the quality of the production.
"The Pit has been extremely successful in Turkey, not only because of its unusual and fast-paced storyline, but its acclaimed cast," he added. "It is a very high-end series with some very dramatic elements in it. At the later stages, everyone will see there are lots of twists in the story and many surprises will come up."
Originally titled Çukur in Turkish, The Pit is produced by Ay Yapim and is on air on Show TV in Turkey. The show has seen its ratings grow to reach over 30% share in the competitive market.
The drama follows the Kocovali family and Çukur, a neighborhood they have ruled for years. The story begins when Yamac Kocovali, who has been in exile from his family, is forced to return to Çukur after his mother announced unexpected news about his family.
Upon his return, he meets the love of his life and finds himself in the middle of a war between his family and his enemies.
The show features a star-studded cast, led by Aras Bulut Iynemli, Dilan Çiçek Deniz, Ercan Kesal, Perihan Savas and Öner Erkan, among many others.
In addition to Chile, The Pit has already been sold in Georgia and according to the executive, it will surely make its way to more territories soon. "We have received a lot of interest from the Middle Eastern countries and others who have come here to Discop," he revealed.
The Pit is just the latest in a long list of Ay Yapim-produced dramas distributed successfully by Inter Medya, following other international hits like Kara Para Ask or Endless Love.
