Telecinco Stays On Top in October

The Mediaset network was once again the highest-rated in Spain in October, with a 14.9% market share.

For the second month in a row after its fall in August (month led by Antena 3), Telecinco was once again Spain’s highest-rated network in October, with a 14.9% share, according to Barlovento Comunicación.
 
The number represents an improvement from the previous month and an increase in its distance from Antena 3, which ended the month with a 12.5% share. La1 by TVE, with 10.4%, completed the podium.
 
In terms of TV groups, Mediaset Spain was once again the most popular with a 28.5% share, with Atresmedia in second place (27.2%) and TVE in third (16.5%).
 
In terms of TV consumption, the month ended with an average 231 minutes per viewer per day, 15.2 minutes more than last month but 16 less than a year ago. October of 2018 was in fact the one with the lowest TV consumption in Spain in nine years.
 
Out of the total minutes consumed, 224 correspond to linear TV and seven to delayed viewing.
 
And in regard to the shows, the month’s top broadcast was football, which dominated the first positions on the ranking with the match between Spain and England for the UEFA Nations League.
 
Aside from football, Big Brother VIP on the 18th on Telecinco was the highest-rated show. Big Brother, in fact, accounted for 10 of the 20 broadcasts on the list.
 
Other popular shows were Masterchef Celebrity, El hormiguero and Your Face Sounds Familiar.
 
In terms of fiction, there weren’t any local productions, with The Good Doctor (Telecinco) among the most popular.
 
As for delayed viewing, MasterChef Celebrity was the leading show with 383,000 average viewers, while Operación Triunfo, GH Vip and El chiringuito de jugones were the most tweeted-about shows.
