Announced exactly one year ago at the 2018 LA Screenings, Preso No. 1 (previously known as Prisionero Número Uno) is now almost ready to make its debut on Telemundo.
The new political thriller is the first series co-developed and co-produced by Keshet International and Telemundo Global Studios for the US Hispanic market, following their deal announced in 2016.
And this week, Telemundo presented the star-studded cast for the series, led by Erik Hayser, alongside Arturo Peniche in his return to Telemundo after more than a decade, Alejandra Ambrosi, Mariana Seoane, Alejandro de la Madrid and Angélica Celaya, with special appearances by Damián Alcázar, Roberto Sosa, Luis Felipe Tovar and Emilio Guerrero.

The stellar cast is completed by Otto Sirgo, Fernando Ciangherotti, Guillermo Quintanilla, Luis Gatica, Roberto Ballesteros, Carmen Beato, Aldo Gallardo, Eduardo Victoria, Alexis Valdés, Fabiola Guajardo, Erick Chapa, Claudio Lafarga, Diego Klein, Tomás Goros, David Ostrosky, Paulina Maros, Estefanía Coppola, Laura Palma, Rocío Verdejo, Luz Ramos, Ale Muller, Claudia Pineda, Thanya Lopez, Rodrigo Oviedo, Zamia Fandiño, Jaime del Águila, Juan Martín Jáuregui, Magali Boyselle, Orlando Moguel, Luciana Silveyra, Carlos Hays and Patricio Gallardo.
Preso No. 1 will center around Carmelo Alvarado (Hayser,) a man of humble origins and firm values who, thanks to his charisma and intelligence, ends up becoming the president of Mexico.
Carmelo is falsely accused of a millionaire fraud that leads to his incarceration, causing an uproar in the country and a media frenzy. However, Carmelo will not go down without fighting back the corrupt system behind this scheme and clearing his name for the sake of his country and his family.
The series was written by Luis Felipe Ybarra, directed by Pitipol Ybarra, Javier Patron Fox and Javier Solas, with Marcos Santana, Mariana Iskandarani and Marcel Ferrer as executive producers for Telemundo with Dror Mishani and Shira Hadad, Avi Nir, Karni Ziv and Kelly Wright as executive producers for Keshet International.
