If the first day hinted at it, the second day confirmed it: there are fewer people at Miptv.
But the drop in attendance was compensated by packed agendas with back to back meetings, according to the distributors consulted by ttvnews: for those with pre-arranged schedules, the market was still good.
This was proven by an interesting number of announcements made this Tuesday, many of them starring Latin America.
In addition, ttvnews was able to confirm several new sales in LatAm by Sky Vision.
“We sold our series Catherine the Great to HBO in Latin America and we recently sold Curfew, Women on the Verge, In the Long Run, 8 Days, A Discovery of Witches and Patrick Melrose to Globo Play. We also signed Women on the Verge and Curfew with Directv”, said Guillermina Ortega, Sales Consultant for Sky Vision for Iberia and Latin America.
“We’ve made an alliance with Kuarzo in Argentine for the worldwide distribution of its entertainment formats and taped content that Kuarzo has produced and continues to produce for prime time. We believe it’s a strong alliance in a genre that’s important to have many titles in, since so many networks are focusing on live TV. I think it will be great for Azteca,” said Patricia Jasín, VP of Azteca Internacional.
Turkish Companies Are Still Active
Turkish companies continued to make headlines on day two of Miptv, with several sales in numerous territories.
“In only two days at Miptv we can already announce we signed five deals for Ruthless City, which has only been on air in Turkey for two episodes,” he said.
Meanwhile, Global Agency announced the sale of its drama Gulperi to Canal 13 in Chile and revealed current negotiations in Argentina.
“In Latin America, Chile will be the first territory for Gulperi with Canal 13. And we are negotiating with Telefe in Argentina and hopefully close that deal soon,” said Izzet Pinto, CEO of Global Agency.
Lastly, Inter Medya announced it’s actively looking for co-production alliances in Latin America.
“In addition to selling content in the region, we could soon add new business models, such as co-productions between Turkish companies and LatAm broadcasters, which could be done in Turkey or in Latin America, with stars from both regions,” said Can Okan, CEO of Inter Medya.
Spain Highlighted by The Wit
Tuesday was also marked by a new The Wit conference, which highlighted the fresh TV formats in the market
, a list that included three productions from Spain: La mejor canción jamás cantada
(Gestmusic), Masters of Renovation
(Shine Iberia) and Game of Talents
(Fremantle and Mediaset Spain).
