Parrot Analytics revealed to ttvnews the list of the most demanded Ibero-American series in the region and around the world.
While in the US the production of series beat its own record once again with 495 titles in 2018, Ibero-America is living its own "Peak TV" with an explosion of premium series driven mostly by OTT platforms and pay-tv players.
And in addition to quantity, Ibero-American shows have managed to generate an impact like never before by becoming a water cooler topic in the region, and also around the world.
With the year coming to a close, it's the perfect time to see which where the most successful in terms of audiences.
And to that end, ttvnews recruited the help of Parrot Analytics, which applied its Average Demand Expressions Index to Spanish-language series produced in 2018.
What were the results? To no one's surprise, Spanish series Money Heist was the most demanded show of 2018, both in the Ibero-American region, as well as around the world.
The the Ibero-American podium was completed by Luis Miguel, the Series and House of Flowers. Globally speaking, the shows were Elite and 3%.
Other highlights in both regions were Argentine shows The Lobbyist and El Marginal; Spain's The Plague, Fariña and The Cathedral of the Sea; Mexico's Falco; Colombia's Besieged and Brazil's Call Me Bruna.
Thus, Netflix productions are strengthening their position of "hyped" shows, while also reflecting the platform's impressive global reach. Overall, the streamer has five original series among the 20 most demanded.
Other companies with major impact were Atresmedia with three series, FOX also with three, Turner with two, as well as Movistar, and HBO and Disney with one each.
Looking at countries, Spain dominated with six series, Brazil follows with five and Mexico completes the podium with four. Meanwhile, Argentina scored three. The remaining two arrived from Colombia and US Hispanic.
