The American network has tasked UnveliEVAble, Eva Longoria's production company, with the production of a pilot episode for Grand Hotel, the US adaptation of the Spanish series Gan Hotel, which has already been adapted in Mexico, Italy and Spain.

Three months after the news broke that Eva Longoria's UnveliEVAble was working alongside ABC Studios on an American adaptation of Spanish series Grand Hotel, ABC has now confirmed the show received a pilot order.

The US adaptation will take the name Grand Hotel, same name as the show's international title - the original Spanish title is Gran Hotel - and will have Brian Tanen as scriptwriter. Tanen was one of the names behind the US adaptations of Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives and Devious Maids.

The show will be set in Miami Beach and will follow the family which owns the hotel and the personnel working at it.

If the pilot gets the green-light for a show, this will be the fifth international adaptation of Grand Hotel, which was already adapted in Mexico, Italy and Egypt. The show originally aired between 2011 and 2013 on Antena 3.

The show was created by Ramón Campos and Gema R. Neira, and produced by Bambú Productions. Set in 1905, the show stared Yon González and Amaia Salamanca.

The American version will be executive produced by Longoria and Ben Spector, alongside Tanen himself and Oliver Bachert and Christian Gockel by Beta Films, which distributes the show internationally.

This is Longoria's second time trying to adapt the show for the United States after failing to receive a green-light in 2016 on a project also in collaboration with ABC and ABC Studios, but under a different scriptwriter.
