The company is planning to launch a streaming service in Spain that will combine a mix of channels and on-demand content for viewing in all devices. The venture will roll-out in partnership with other pay-tv distributors.

The world looks a lot like SVOD for AMC Iberia. According to local reports, the company is preparing to launch a streaming service in Spain that will combine a mix of channels and on-demand content for viewing in all devices.

Launching in partnership with other pay-tv distributors, the service, named Selekt, is said to cost €6.99 (US$8.22) a month.

And, unlike traditional OTT platforms, AMC will offer linear channels as part of its streaming. The offering includes 17 channels including AMC, Canal Hollywood, Sundance Channel, Somos, Odisea, Cocina Internacional, Decasa, Canal Panda and Sol Música. Other channels to be included are Dark, Historia, A&E and Crime & Investigation.

The service will also include two JV channels with Portugal’s NOS, Biggs and Blast, and its SVOD JV with YouTube network Machinima.

As for its series offering, Selekt will also include AMC series for which the network holds broadcasting rights in Spain such as Breaking Bad, Fear the Walking Dead, Mad Men, Humans, Halt and Catch Fire, Turn, The Son, The Night Manager and Into the Badlands.

However, the new platform will come with some strings: it will only be available via pay-tv platforms such as Vodafone, Orange and Movistar. Although AMC Networks Iberia SVP of marketing and sales Manuel Balsera told El Español that Selekt could be commercialised by operators without being bundled with , telecommunication services.

The news comes right after AMC launched in the US the AMC Premiere linear service in partnership with Comcast for the viewing of top series without ads. It also comes amidst a significant period of expansion for OTT platforms in Spain like the arrival of Sky España, Netflix, HBO and Rakuten TV.
