Named Keshet MX, the hub will produce content for the whole of Latin America and US Hispanic. Frank Scheuermann will have a leadership position working under the supervision of Kelly Wright.
Keshet International has announced this Wednesday the opening of a production hub in Mexico City that will operate under the name Keshet MX and will expand the company's production capabilities in Latin America and US Hispanic.
As was announced by the company, the idea behind Keshet MX is to build on existing development and production deals by adding new partnerships with broadcasters, networks and brands as well as integrating local talent and introducing more of Keshet's programming across the region.
In spite of having its headquarters in Mexico, the new production hub will offer its services throughout the region, including the US.
Kelly Wright, Keshet's Head of Latin America, will direct the new division, reporting to the company's COO & President of Distribution, Keren Shahar.
Leading the team in the ground will be Frank Scheuermann, Head of Development and Production Latin America.
Scheuermann joined Keshet International last spring, tasked with developing original IP and ideas for promising new formats to adapt for Latin American audiences.
Currently, Keshet MX is actively hiring for its Development and Business Affairs divisions and will announce new production deals in the coming months.
"Last year was a momentous year for us in Latin America; launching a production company in Mexico City is a natural next step," assured Kelly Wright.
"Mexico is an incredibly mature, open and creative market, providing fertile ground for new content and talent to grow. There will always be a place for great telenovelas and prime-time entertainment, and alongside it there is also a growing appetite for more digital content and programming with international flavor, for which we are renowned. The idea is to offer these solutions in an organic fashion, together with local partners," she added.
Frank Scheuermann also added that Keshet MX will be a company that will offer an open door to local talent, producers, broadcasters and brands.
To date, Keshet International has sold close to 1000 hours of content across Latin America and has seen successful adaptations of its formats on air, like Rising Star and Boom!
In addition to Keshet MX, the company already has an output deal with the leading broadcaster Televisa in Mexico for four of its scripted formats, a co-development deal for unscripted content with Telefe in Argentina and another for scripted content with Telemundo in the US.
