Series Mania Gets Money Heist Creator

Alex Pinal, writer for Spanish hit series Money Heist, will be one of the featured speakers during the next edition of Series Mania. This will be the ninth for the event and the first one in the new location in Lille.

This Monday, the organizers of Series Mania revealed new details about the event, which will be held this year between April 27 and May 5 in Lille, its new headquarters.

Among the this year's highlights, the organization has announced the confirmation of prominent speakers, such as Hagai Levi (HBO's In Treatment and Showtime's The Affair), Tony Grisoni (BBC2's The City and the City), Bryan Elsley (Channel 4 and Netflix's Kiss Me First) and Fanny Herrero (France 2 and Netflix's Call My Agent!).

In addition, the ninth edition of the event will feature the presentation of success stories from several international series, with lectures held by their creators.

In this section one of the highlights the conference is the presentation of Álex Pina, creator of Money Heist, who will discuss the phenomenon of the Atresmedia series. The panel will also include Charlie Covell, creator of Netflix's The End of the F *** ing World.

"Series Mania’s European Project and Talent Forum is the place in Europe to connect the creative international community with TV series executives," mentioned Laurence Herszberg, founder and general director of Series Mania.

"There are no good series without a good script; therefore, Series Mania is the place where business meets creativity," added the executive, taking the opportunity to unveil a new initiative entitled Enter The Writers Room, which will offer three days of sessions for delegates to join or observe a simulation of a writers’ room in action.

The sessions will run as part of Series Mania Writers Campus, a week-long intensive writing workshop for 20 emerging TV drama writers throughout Europe.
