The Hispanic network Telemundo announced this week their upcoming releases, under the theme “January Reloaded”.
The channel kicks off 2019 with a new primetime programming featuring the premiere of the musical competition series La Voz, the return of the extreme sports and reality survival competition Exatlón US, the series Jugar con Fuego ("Playing with Fire"), and El Barón, Telemundo’s new action-packed series set in the late 70s.
The domestic adaptation of Exatlón will be back on January 21, after a successful first season.
The 10-episode thriller Jugar con fuego, Telemundo’s first co-production with Globo, is scheduled to premiere on January 22.
The juiciest announcement, however, is the release of the new super series El Barón, to premiere on January 29 at 10 PM.
Set in the late 70s, the series follows the life of Ignacio “Nacho” Montero, a young classy criminal that is quickly drawn into the world of contraband. First selling cigarettes, then marijuana and eventually making partners with Pablo Escobar to sell cocaine in the US. The action was shot in Colombia and produced by Sony.

The series co-stars Francisco Angelini and Maria Elisa Camargo, supported by Jorge Luis Moreno, Variel Sánchez, Mauricio Mejía, Gabriel Tarantini, Tania Valencia, Lorena García, Julián Diaz, Kornel Doman, Andrés Echevarría, Juana Arboleda, Pedro Suárez, with Julio Bracho, Juan Pablo Llano and Carolina Gómez, under the direction of Rodrigo Triana.
