After a successful run at Mip Cancun, Calinos Entertainment was present in Miami for a new edition of Content Americas, where it secured several sales for its extensive catalog of Turkish dramas.
“We have very good news because we’ve reached several agreements here at Content Americas. It’s been a productive market,” Cristina Duffy, Sales Executive for Latin America at Calinos Entertainment, told ttvnews.
“And we also want to announce that in March we will be presenting a new title, a Turkish production, which we hope will be a huge success and reach as many countries as possible,” she revealed.
For now, the distributor arrived at this market with a selection of highly successful dramas, led by Chains of Fate, a 67-episode, hour-long drama produced by Pastel Film and broadcast on Kanal D in 2023.
“Chains of Fate is a spectacular production with stunning cinematography, set in Istanbul in the 1980s, featuring a great cast. A wonderful story. A family drama that will delight everyone in Latin America. We are very proud to have added it to our catalog,” said the executive.
In this drama, Mustafa, a man in his early thirties, struggles to make ends meet with his wife Canan and their young daughter Cemre in the suburbs of Istanbul. When Canan’s illness reaches a critical stage and immediate surgery becomes her only chance of survival, Mustafa is left desperate. His factory has been closed for months due to a lockout, and his back wages remain unpaid.
A man of dignity who has never bowed to anyone, Mustafa is now forced to swallow his pride. To save his wife, he decides to confront the factory owner, Yakup Bey, and demand the wages he is rightfully owed. But what begins as a desperate attempt to keep his family alive will become a day that forever changes the lives of Mustafa and his daughter, Cemre.
The cast includes Salih Bademci, Hazal Subasi, Ozan Dolunay, Perihan Savas, Ozge Ozberk, Teoman Kumbaracibasi, and Elif Dogan.
“We have two more productions that we just added: Flames of Love, which was filmed in Cappadocia, so the scenery is incredible; and our first daily drama, Chasing the Sun, which we added in Cancún, and we are ready to close new deals with Latin America,” she highlighted.
Flames of Love, with 84 episodes, is another Pastel Film production. It tells the story of the impossible love between Zumrut, the most beautiful daughter of the humble Kuloglu family, and Serhat, the beloved son of the powerful Demirkan family of Nevsehir. Zumrut’s mother, Ulfet, dreams of improving her social standing by marrying her off to a wealthy man. After her husband becomes disabled while working in the salt mines, Zumrut begins working there to support the family. Her employer, Adil Demirkan, eventually proposes marriage despite family opposition. But on their wedding night, everything changes: Serhat, whom they believed to be dead, suddenly returns. Torn between Adil, her mother’s ambitions, the Demirkan family, and the love of her life, Zumrut faces an impossible choice.
Meanwhile, Chasing the Sun, a Mednova production, follows Gunes, a young woman who has just graduated from university and is about to leave for London in pursuit of her dreams. She is forced to abandon all her dreams when her sister is imprisoned for defamation. Vowing to save her sister, Gunes infiltrates the life of Ayaz, whom she believes is responsible for her sister’s imprisonment. Ayaz is unaware that he will pay with love for the grave mistake he made in trying to protect the conglomerate he inherited. As Ayaz, who has lived behind emotional walls for years, breaks them down with Gunes, she finds herself caught between her feelings and her thirst for revenge. Their journey is woven with secrets, where love becomes both salvation and captivity.
