Netflix Unveils Trailer for Dibu Martínez: The Kid Who Stops Time

The PEGSA-produced feature, set to strike an emotional chord with audiences of all ages, premieres on the streamer on May 28.

Netflix has dropped the official trailer for Dibu Martínez: The Kid Who Stops Time, a new film that dives into the personal story of Emiliano Martínez, from a dream-filled kid growing up in Mar del Plata to the “Dibu” the world knows today, one of the standout heroes of Argentine and global soccer.

The feature, which aims to resonate with the whole family, will launch on the platform on May 28.

Blending animation inspired by illustrations from Liniers, personal archival footage, and intimate interviews with the goalkeeper’s inner circle, the film paints a layered portrait of Martínez’s journey. Featured voices include childhood friends, family members, and key figures in his story such as Lionel Messi, Lionel Scaloni, and Miguel Ángel “Pepé” Santoro.

That mix of storytelling styles brings to life Martínez’s road to the top, and the hurdles he had to overcome before making it big on the professional stage.

Shot across Argentina and England in 2025, the film is produced by PEGSA under Agustín Pichot, based on a short story by Hernán Casciari, and directed by Gustavo Cova.

At its heart is the story of a young boy who discovers he has the power to stop time, while carrying on conversations with a soccer ball — voiced by Agustín Aristarán — that reminds him of every challenge still ahead. The result is an emotional, original tale about inner strength, perseverance, and the path to glory — turning Martínez into an inspiration for a new generation of fans.
