The distributor made its way to Los Angeles with the announcement of season renewals for its Turkish hits, Halef and Eshref Ruya, and a robust catalog of vertical micro-dramas for the international market.

Thanks to its catalog of successful Turkish dramas, Inter Medya often arrives at international markets with several sales and partnership announcements. This edition of LA Screenings is no exception, and they arrived with big news for two of their most recent dramas.

“We are here at LA Screenings presenting Halef, which already has a second season confirmed, and Eshref Ruya, which already has a third,” began Beatriz Cea Okan, Vice President and Director of Sales and Acquisitions at Inter Medya, in an interview with ttvnews.

Furthermore, the Turkish distributor is presenting the drama Hilos de vida, celebrating its success in several Latin American countries, where “it’s performing very well, even surpassing prime-time telenovelas in some territories,” the executive revealed.

And on this occasion, Inter Medya is showcasing a broad catalog of vertical content, a branch of its business that began just a few months ago and is already evident in a catalog of 20 vertical dramas, including an original production.

“I’m sure that after this market we’ll announce several sales,” the executive predicted.

This catalog of vertical micro-dramas is presented as a complement to its robust offering of traditional dramas, the executive explained. “Micro-dramas, which are shorter stories or novels of less than two minutes, aren’t replacing Turkish dramas; they’re complementing them,” she maintained. “So, platforms or television networks that are launching their OTT services or additional apps beyond their existing television offerings are now complementing Turkish content with micro-dramas.”

Regarding genres, the executive maintains that “there’s a bit of everything,” and that “what attracts the most attention, or what sells best commercially, is content that’s a bit more ‘cheesy,’ risqué, more dramedy, but we also have horror in our catalog.”

Finally, the Sales and Acquisitions Director highlighted the distributor’s feature film catalog. “We continue to have Turkish blockbusters, and now we’re presenting Portuguese Love, which we’re also in talks to distribute in theaters in Latin America and Brazil.”

“He’s a very famous Portuguese actor, and she’s Turkish, so it’s a very interesting combination. The first release window will be theaters, and it’s about to premiere in Portugal. We’re waiting to see the results before we can start filming,” she concluded.
