The film has been selected for the event’s National Feature Film Competition.
Inter Medya, a leading global pioneer in Turkish content production and distribution, announced that its cinematic feature, Ancient Blue (Kadim Mavi), directed by Emir Ziyalar and co-written with Doruk Kumkumoğlu, has been officially selected for the prestigious National Feature Film Competition at the 63rd Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival.
The film is currently screening at the festival and vying for top honors.
Positioned as a significant milestone in Inter Medya’s growing cinematic portfolio, ANCIENT BLUE marks Ziyalar’s striking feature directorial debut. Featuring an ensemble cast led by Umut Aksoy alongside Tülin Özen, Barış Kolik, Yaşar Karakulak, Öykü Su Okur, Musa Öztep, and Bilgi Nur Aydoğmuş, the film offers a profound psychological and visual journey.
The narrative follows Kenan Yelkıran (portrayed by Umut Aksoy), a solitary fisherman whose boat is seized due to debts. After vanishing in a fatal storm, Kenan washes ashore two months later with no memory of the elapsed time. Rather than relying on a conventional “what happened during those two months?” mystery, the film brilliantly transforms into a dark, visceral reckoning with guilt and repressed memory. Through Murat Emkuzhev’s striking cinematography -blending digital color with 35mm black-and-white footage and shifting aspect ratios- Ancient Blue transcends a local thriller, weaving universal themes of ancient sibling conflict, timeless mythologies of cursed figures, and cinematic echoes ranging from classic expressionist masterpieces to psychological landscapes.
The winners of the National Feature Film Competition will be revealed during the festival’s official closing ceremony.
Underscoring its commitment to bringing high-end, visionary productions to the global market, Inter Medya proudly undertakes the international distribution of Ancient Blue, presenting this compelling masterpiece to its clients and global partners as part of its expanding feature film catalog.
