The organization of the Sports Summit, the largest sports event in Latin America, confirmed the postponement of its next edition in São Paulo, Brazil, as a consequence of the advance of the Omicron variant of COVID-19. Sports Summit will communicate the next date when the sanitary situation allows it.

The Sports Summit Brazil 2022, which was planned to be held from March 9 to 12 in São Paulo, bringing together leaders, professionals, and athletes from more than 50 countries, announced that it will be postponed as a result of the progress of the Omicron variant.

The event, cataloged as the largest in the sports industry in Latin America, after the great success generated in its editions held in Mexico City, will hold its next edition in Brazil on a date to be defined, attracting the biggest names in sports, such as executives of confederations, leagues, athletes, former athletes, among other personalities, who will discuss the current state of sports in the world and its trends.

“The arrival of Sports Summit in Brazil will mark a milestone for our organization, consolidating our event as the most important in Latin America. We want it to be a celebration and to be able to share it with our global community and with all the local leaders who have supported this initiative from the very beginning. Unfortunately, the decision is due to the increase in the number of infections by the Omicron variant, and the impossibility of holding the event in person,” explained Sebastian Lateulade CEO and Founder of Sports Summit Events.

“I would especially like to thank the official and institutional support of the Special Secretariat of Sports and Ministry of Citizenship of the Federal Government of Brazil; Secretariat of Sports – Government of the State of São Paulo, and Prefeitura de São Paulo, for all the support they have given us, and with whom we will continue to work closely to confirm the date of the event,” he added.
