Always a major player at every edition of Mipcom, the international distributor Eccho Rights arrived at the market this year with a major new addition: the Turkish drama Terra Rossa (Bereketli Topraklar).

Produced by Sürec Film, the series will premiere this fall on Show TV in Turkey.

“Here at Mipcom, we are presenting Terra Rossa, which will air on Show TV in the coming weeks. We hope it will be a big hit,” Barbora Suster, Director of Sales and Acquisitions for Eccho Rights for Latin America and Iberia, began a conversation with ttvnews.

The production features a stellar cast led by Engin Akyürek, one of the most renowned actors on Turkish television, famous for titles such as Fatmagul and Black Money Love, a role that earned him an International Emmy nomination for Best Actor.

“Terra Rossa features Engin Akyürek, a well-known actor in the region. We hope that with him leading the cast, we will reach many customers,” the executive revealed.

“It’s a slightly more rural story, about two rival families, revenge, and forbidden love, a la Romeo and Juliet,” she explained.

The plot takes place in Adana, where the enmity between the Bereketoğulları and Karahanlıs families is revived. In the midst of this conflict, Ömer Bereketoğul (Akyürek) fights to protect his family, while the newly arrived prosecutor Nevin (Ali) seeks justice for the death of her fiancé. Between duty and desire, both will be caught in a bond as dangerous as it is unexpected, where love becomes the most unpredictable weapon.

“Apart from Terra Rosa, we’re also launching our daily dramas. We have the third season of Behind the Veil, which is the most-watched daily drama in Turkey. We hope it appeals to Latin American audiences in particular,” the executive emphasized.

“And also Journey to Belong, a shorter family story, but with the element of a girl in the lead role, it could be very popular,” she added.

In addition to its slate of Turkish dramas, the distributor is launching the second season of Sorgu (Beneath the Surface), a short series created for a VOD platform in Turkey, and another new 10-episode series for the TOD platform.

“I think both could have a lot of exposure on digital and regional channels,” she concluded.
