Dean Devlin’s production and distribution company has secured an agreement to bring the comedy series, which amassed more than 6 million subscribers on YouTube, to Vizio’s free streaming service in the U.S.
Electric Entertainment, Dean Devlin’s Los Angeles-based production and distribution company, has entered into an agreement with Vizio to bring Sideswiped to WatchFree+, the company’s free streaming service.
The deal expands the distribution of the series, which originally premiered on YouTube and amassed more than 6 million subscribers. WatchFree+ has secured exclusive U.S. streaming rights to the series, with all eight episodes of its first season now available on demand.
Created by and starring Carly Craig, Sideswiped also stars Rosanna Arquette and Chelsea Frei. The comedy follows Olivia, a career-driven 35-year-old woman who, after waking up on her birthday with 252 matches on a dating app, sets out to date every one of them. The series explores relationships, family and the dynamics of modern dating in the digital age.
For Electric Entertainment, the agreement represents a new distribution window for a production that initially built its audience on YouTube and is now expanding into Vizio’s FAST ecosystem.
“From the moment I watched Sideswiped, I knew it was something special. The series is witty, relatable, and laugh-out-loud funny, driven by exceptional writing and a pitch-perfect ensemble cast,” said Dean Devlin, CEO of Electric Entertainment.
Devlin added that bringing the series to WatchFree+ will allow the company to reach new viewers, expand its devoted fanbase and give greater visibility to the comedy.
All eight episodes of the first season of Sideswiped are now available on demand on WatchFree+ for customers with Vizio or onn TVs powered by Vizzio OS in the United States.
