Through her production house, Cholawood Productions, the star of The Queen of the South will produce and star in several projects in English and Spanish with Endemol Shine Boombog.

Endemol Shine Boomdog, a division of Endemol Shine North America, has signed an overall development deal with award-winning actress and producer Kate Del Castillo and her Cholawood Productions team, it was announced today by Alejandro Rincon, CEO, Endemol Shine Boomdog.

Del Castillo, known globally for her leading role in the hit series La Reina del Sur, will both produce and star in projects that will be jointly developed between Endemol Shine Boomdog and Cholawood Productions.

Del Castillo, along with her partners, veteran Latin entertainment industry executive Carmen Cervantes and Daytime Emmy Award- winning journalist Jessica Maldonado, lead Cholawood Productions, which will be housed at Endemol Shine’s Los Angeles offices.

The two sides are currently exploring scripted and unscripted development opportunities in both English and Spanish. Flavio Morales, Endemol Shine Latino’s Los Angeles- based Executive Vice President, U.S. Initiatives, will oversee all programming efforts with Del Castillo and the Cholawood team.

“There is no bigger name in our industry than Kate Del Castillo,” says Rincon. “We are thrilled to be developing content with Kate and her team that she can both produce and star in. We already have some very promising projects that we will be bringing to the marketplace in the near future.”

As one of the most prominent actresses in Latin entertainment, Del Castillo has played a leading role in many of the industry’s top films and TV series over the last two decades. This summer, Del Castillo led Telemundo to record ratings once again, regardless of language, as she reprised her award-winning role as Teresa Mendoza on La Reina del Sur 2.

She recently starred in and produced two other highly successful projects for Netflix, Ingobernable and The Day I Met El Chapo.

Del Castillo also is set to co-star in the upcoming film “Bad Boys for Life” alongside Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.

Endemol Shine Boomdog produces such hit series as Chumel Con Chumel (HBO), MasterChef Latino (Telemundo), MasterChef Mexico (Azteca), Mira Quien Baila (Televisa/Univision), Nicky Jam: El Ganador (Netflix/Telemundo), LOL (Amazon) and Me Caigo de Risa (Televisa).

The studio’s drama series “El Vato” (Netflix/Universo) was honored last year with an International Emmy Award.

Endemol Shine Boomdog recently announced an unprecedented production and development deal with Televisa, which included the record-breaking launch of a The Masked Singer. Last month, Amazon Prime announced it has licensed the studio’s upcoming drama series “Súbete a mi Moto,” which is being produced alongside Somos Productions and Piñolywood Studios.
