ZDF Studios announced the start of shooting the new procedural series Weiss & Morales, a production that sinks its roots in the most classic elements of the genre and reformulates them to adapt them to the current standards of high-end television fiction. Wolfgang Feindt is the commissioning editor at ZDF, and Mar Díaz is the executive producer at RTVE. ZDF Studios will handle worldwide sales outside Spanish-speaking territories.

Guided by the experienced direction of Oriol Ferrer, known for his work on Entrevías and Estoy Vivo, and backed by executive producers Alfonso Blanco of Portocabo (Rapa, Hierro) and Peter Nadermann of Nadcon (The Bridge, The Killing), Weiss & Morales has a Spanish and German writing team led by Nina Hernandez, Carlota Dans, and Ron Markus.

The series revolves around the story of two investigators, Guardia Civil sergeant Raúl Morales (Miguel Ángel Silvestre) and German BKA agent Nina Weiss (Katia Fellin). The two are forced to work together when a crime is committed in the Canary Islands that affects the German community. A collaboration that neither enjoys; however, they will ultimately find a way to solve the case in each episode despite their very different characters and methods of investigation.

Weiss & Morales features a cast of Spanish and German actors that, in addition to Katia Fellin and Miguel Àngel Silvestre, includes Juanjo Puigcorbé, Mariam Hernández, Margarita Broich, Thomas Heinze, Tania Santana, Yaiza Guimaré, Saulo Trujillo, Luifer Rodríguez and Iria Santana.
