Until now, the executive served as Corporate General Manager and Director of Institutional Relations for the group.
The Board of Directors of Mediaset España appointed Mario Rodríguez as the new president of the audiovisual group, to which he has been continuously linked since 1998 and where, until now, he served as Corporate General Manager and Director of Institutional Relations.
After almost three decades with the company, Mario Rodríguez, with his in-depth knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework of the audiovisual sector and proven experience in corporate governance and institutional representation and dialogue, embarks on a new chapter as president of the group.
Mario Rodríguez Valderas holds a degree in Business Law from ICADE and a Master’s degree in Legal Management of Companies from the Instituto Libre de Derecho y Economía (Free Institute of Law and Economics). After beginning his career at the law firm of Santiago Muñoz Machado, Professor of Administrative Law (1991-1998), he joined Gestevisión Telecinco -now Mediaset España- in 1998. There, in 2000, he was appointed Secretary of the Board of Directors and in 2003, Secretary General, establishing the Legal Department and the Internal Audit, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Regulatory Compliance departments. In December 2010, he was appointed Corporate General Manager of the company.
Since joining the group, he has actively participated in the major milestones that Mediaset España has faced, from its initial public offering (IPO) to the acquisition of Cuatro and the granting of the successive digital terrestrial television (DTT) licenses held by Mediaset España, among others. Furthermore, he has represented the company before government agencies and various regulatory bodies, participating in the drafting of the regulations governing the television and audiovisual sector, as well as in the main forums of the audiovisual industry.
In this capacity, he has served as a member of the Telecommunications Advisory Council and vice president of UTECA (Union of Commercial Free-to-Air Television Stations), and is currently a board member of ACT (Association of Commercial Television and Video on Demand Services in Europe).
