The miniseries will be composed of eight episodes and premiere in 2022.

Netflix announced this Thursday a new original series for Brazil: a bioseries about the legendary Brazilian pilot Ayrton Senna.

As detailed, it will be produced by Gullane and will have the active participation of the Senna family.

With eight episodes, the miniseries will chronicle Ayrton Senna’s entire racing career, from his beginnings in the F1600 in England to the tragic accident at Imola, in Italy, during the San Marino Grand Prix.

It will be filmed in various international locations, including Senna’s birthplace in São Paulo.

“It is very special to be able to announce that we will tell the stories that few know about him. The Senna family is determined to make this project something totally unique and unprecedented. And no one better than Netflix, with its global reach, to be our partner in this project,” said Viviane Senna, Ayrton’s sister.

“Senna is a person we need. A young man who fought for his dreams and who faced numerous barriers to represent his country. Senna is Brazil”, both Fabiano and Caio Gullane commented.

“As Senna began his journey in São Paulo and conquered the world, we are honored to bring him inspiring journey to all his fans, wherever they may be. Ayrton Senna has a legacy that crosses borders and generations and Netflix is proud to be able to take his story to more than 190 countries,” concluded Maria Angela de Jesus, director of international original productions for Netflix in Brazil.

The series will be produced in English and Portuguese and will premiere in 2022.
