Filming for the series created by Sergio G. Sánchez and produced by Sospecha Films (The Innocent) began in Asturias, which will feature about 100 people and will last for almost five months.

Netflix has started filming its new original project in Spain, Alma, a supernatural thriller produced by Sospecha Films.

Sospecha Films was born from the union of three producers with great experience in the cinematographic and audiovisual world both in Spain and abroad: Belén Atienza (Jurassic World: El reino caído, El secreto de Marrowbone), Sandra Hermida (Arde Madrid, El secreto de Marrowbone) and Jesús de la Vega (Intruders, Hierro).

Alma is the producer’s second project for Netflix after the series El inocente, created by Oriol Paulo.

The new youth series will be the first Netflix production shot in the Principality of Asturias (Spain). It will host a team of around 100 people for almost five months and will visit various locations in this autonomous community.

Alma is created by the Asturian Sergio G. Sánchez (The Secret of Marrowbone) and directed by himself with Kike Maíllo (EVA).

“Fantasy is often born out of pain, out of the need to make sense of something that doesn’t have it. The young protagonists of Alma use fantasy as an instrument to forge their identity, as an act of rebellion against a cruel reality. Those who come to our series will find a story of overcoming that combines suspense, terror and emotion,” said Sánchez.

The main cast is made up of Mireia Oriol (Las del hockey), Alex Villazán (Caronte), Pol Monen (¿A quién te llevarías a una isla desierta?), Claudia Roset (SKAM), Javier Morgade (El nudo), Nil Cardoner (Las del hockey), María Caballero (El Ministerio del Tiempo) and Milena Smit (No matarás).

The cast is completed by Marta Belaustegui, Josean Bengoetxea, Cándido Uranga, Katia R. Borlado, Ximena Vera, Celia Sastre, Laura Ubach, Raúl Tejón and Alejandro Serrano.

With the help of her parents and friends, unknown to her, she will try to uncover the mystery surrounding the accident while struggling to regain her life and identity.
