NEM Zagreb 2026, taking place on December 7–8 at the Esplanade Zagreb Hotel, has announced Timothy Oh, General Manager and Chief Marketing Officer at COL Group International, as its first keynote speaker. The event has also unveiled five panel discussions focused on the trends and business opportunities reshaping the video industry across Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).

The agenda will bring together industry professionals to examine evolving viewing habits, the impact of algorithms on content distribution, new advertising strategies and the transformation of audiovisual business models.

Among the announced sessions is Fear of Missing Out, a panel exploring how controversy, social media conversations and the fear of missing out on trends can drive audience attention and increase the commercial value of content.

Meanwhile, Algorithms and Stories We Believe: Living in Your Feed will examine the role of recommendation systems in personalising content consumption and their implications for information circulation and shared cultural experiences.

Advertising will take centre stage in The New TV Advertising Mix: Reach, Targeting and Results, which will explore the potential of Addressable TV to combine television’s reach with targeted advertising and performance measurement. The discussion will also address implementation challenges and the technology’s broader adoption across CEE markets.

The changing roles of industry players will be another focus of the agenda. In Video Industry 2.0: Who’s Becoming What?, professionals will discuss how creators are increasingly expanding into production, intellectual property ownership and format development, taking on activities traditionally associated with established media companies.

Finally, The Year in Video: Looking Back, Moving Forward will review the key developments that shaped the industry in 2026 and consider their potential implications for the year ahead.

Through its programme and networking opportunities, NEM Zagreb aims to bring together broadcasters, streaming platforms, production companies, creators, brands and agencies to encourage industry exchange and foster new business opportunities across Central and Eastern Europe.

NEM Zagreb 2026 will take place on December 7–8 at the Esplanade Zagreb Hotel.

NEM Zagreb 2026 will take place on December 7-8, 2026, at the Esplanade Zagreb Hotel, while NEM Dubrovnik 2027 will be held from June 7-10, 2027, at the Hotel Dubrovnik Palace, the event’s traditional venue.

“Every edition of NEM continues to raise the bar, and NEM Dubrovnik 2026 marked our biggest edition yet, bringing together more industry leaders, companies, and participants than ever before. This success is a great motivation to keep evolving both of our events and creating platforms that respond to the needs of the industry,” said Sanja Božić-Ljubičić, founder of NEM Dubrovnik and NEM Zagreb.

“With NEM Zagreb continuing to grow as a place where creativity, innovation, and new generations of video creators come together, and NEM Dubrovnik strengthening its position as the leading TV industry gathering in the CEE region, we are excited about everything ahead,” she added.

The event explores the future of video across creativity, production, marketing, and artificial intelligence, while fostering knowledge sharing, collaboration, and networking opportunities. Organizers also announced that Early Bird registration packages are available until September 30.

Meanwhile, NEM Dubrovnik 2027 will once again welcome the world’s leading studios, broadcasters, streaming platforms, telecommunications companies, content distributors, and technology providers.
By Luis Cabrera, from Dubrovnik, Croatia

The champagne-fueled celebration of the opening of a new space, the Adriatic Area, symbolizes the current reality of NEM Dubrovnik. In its 14th edition, NEM is experiencing a very different moment than other industry events: in 2026, it has added more spaces and, most importantly, significantly increased its number of participants, who arrived at the beautiful Croatian city with a very positive energy, eager to do business in a fantastic setting.

The first day of the event, which runs until Thursday the 11th at the Dubrovnik Palace Hotel, had an excellent pace. The working tables -distributed across multiple areas but conveniently connected- hosted a good number of meetings, satisfying both loyal attendees and those attending for the first time.

Indeed, the 2026 edition of NEM Dubrovnik was characterized by several new faces, as many companies were surprised by the cancellations of Content Warsaw and, in particular, NATPE Budapest, leading them to rethink their schedules and opt for a visit to the Dalmatian coast.

Companies like Dori Media Group and TV Tokyo are participating in NEM for the first time, while others like TVP (Polish Public Television) have expanded their presence, moving from being buyers to also selling content.

One of the most praised aspects of NEM Dubrovnik is the organization’s work in creating a compact event with engaging panels and numerous networking opportunities, including cocktails each day and lunches at the hotel restaurant. and closing parties during the first three nights. For example, this Monday the event closed with an opening party, held at Port 22 in Dubrovnik’s Old Town, sponsored by Broadpeak, Globo, Fremantle International, and ITV Studios.

NEM is also a space for presentations and panels. This Monday, Global Agency showcased part of One Night Only, a new series adapted from the phenomenon that sparked the Turkish drama boom: 1001 Nights; while Globo presented a showcase of its vast library under the title “Building Audiences Through Content Strategy: Telenovelas, Series & Formats.”

Globo also sponsored the panel “What Makes a Long-Term Buyer-Seller Relationship Work?”, which featured Igor Draguzet, CCO of Central Europe Media Enterprises (CME); Rahela Štefanović, editor-in-chief at HTV, Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT); Rodrigo Nascimento, Head of Globo’s International Business Hub for EMEA; Jan Maxa, Director of Content and Production at FTV Prima; and Slawomir Cyra, Programming Director at Cyfrowy Polsat S.A; moderated by Kasia Madera, BBC News presenter.

The panel schedule will continue on Tuesday and will include, among others, a keynote address by Sam Barnett, CEO of CME, one of the most important players in the region.

Mixing the Old with the New

In terms of content, CEE occupies an interesting position for many European companies: it is a small territory, but with a strong following in several specific genres, including Turkish drama. Therefore, it is not surprising that the Turkish pavilion, organized by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, was one of the most active spaces on this first day, with companies like Mediahub, Calinos Entertainment, and OGM Universe working at a rapid pace.

Even outside the pavilion, the Turkish delegation is a major player, with Kanal D International (KDI), Inter Medya, Madd Entertainment, Mistco, and ATV Distribution spread across different areas of the event.

For example, Mediahub is presenting multiple new titles at NEM, including Roses, and new Greek series; KDI, meanwhile, celebrates the success of Sins & Roses, which will be adapted in Greece, and Torn Apart, whose second episode garnered excellent audience figures in Turkey, nearly doubling the ratings of its premiere.

Turkish content continues to expand significantly throughout the region, opening the door to new possibilities, such as micro-dramas, the current trend in the industry and also a major player in Dubrovnik. Inter Medya arrived at NEM with its first production, Boardroom to Bedroom, as well as with the vertical content from its Gain platform.

Similarly, Narativ, a Dubai-based company with offices worldwide, boasts one of the most comprehensive catalogs of vertical content. And, more importantly, it possesses the know-how of its ecosystem, thanks to its agreement with the Chinese group COL Group.

Of course, there’s also room for other top-tier content, such as Viaplay’s Nordic productions, ranging from acclaimed crime thrillers to sports documentaries, and including dramas based on true stories, like Golden Boys.

NEM Dubrovnik welcomes everyone, and its potential is enormous. The second day continues this Tuesday with more panels, screenings, and other activities that reflect the vibrant atmosphere of the event.

German distributor Autentic arrives at NEM Dubrovnik with a renewed factual content slate for the international market, featuring productions across current affairs, history, science, travel and premium wildlife.

Among the highlights is Under Pressure – Trump’s Fractured America (52’, Tob Film), a documentary examining the deep polarization of the United States during Donald Trump’s new presidential term.

Also standing out is Digital Aliens – Excluded in a Connected World (52’, Hoferichter & Jacobs), which explores how digitalization is creating new forms of inequality and social exclusion.

The company complements this offering with Bargain Dealers (9×52’, GiUMa Produzioni), a series set in an Italian antiques and vintage market, where every object comes with its own unique story.

In the history segment, Autentic presents titles spanning from the ancient world to the technological era. Ancient Pompeii – The Secrets of Villa Oplontis (2×45’, Go Button Media with Autentic) delves into one of the most luxurious residences of the Roman Empire, while Auschwitz-Birkenau: The Forgotten Revolt (52’, 90’, Digital Images) revisits the story of a little-known act of resistance inside the Nazi concentration camp.

The slate is further strengthened by The Apple Story – Selling the Revolution (52’, Spiegel TV), a documentary chronicling the rise of the technology company that redefined consumer computing and transformed contemporary culture.

Premium wildlife remains one of Autentic’s key strategic pillars. In this genre, the distributor adds four new productions from Terra Mater Studios: India – Monsoon Kingdom (2×52’), Wild Boreal (52’), Christmas in the Alps (52’) and Mallorca – Beyond the Beaches (52’).

These titles are joined by The Archipelago (2×52’, Boréales), focused on remote island ecosystems shaped by extreme geological forces, and The Hidden World of Dolphins (52’, Marquardt Medienproduktion), an exploration of the remarkable behaviors of these marine mammals.

Within the People & Places category, Autentic presents Suriname: The Green Heart of South America (2×52’, Brandmedia Film), which uncovers one of the world’s least explored rainforest regions. In addition, the second season of Through Snow & Ice: Swiss Alpine Rail Journeys (4×52’, Mediafisch) returns with new journeys through Switzerland’s spectacular Alpine landscapes.

The NEM Dubrovnik slate also includes Milestones of the Solar System (6×52’, Go Button Media for Autentic), a science and technology series previously unveiled during the London TV Screenings, which retraces the events that shaped the solar system through a combination of cutting-edge scientific research and cinematic storytelling.

With this new line-up, Autentic strengthens its position in the international factual market by investing in content that combines topical relevance, high production values and global appeal for broadcasters and streaming platforms.

NEM Dubrovnik 2026 is set to be its strongest edition to date, further reinforcing its position as one of the leading media industry gatherings in the CEE region and beyond.

The event will bring together over 300 companies, more than 200 buyers from the CEE region, and over 150 exhibitors across three market areas – Sunset, Mare, and Adriatic, with the overall market growing by 50% compared to last year.

This level of growth is reflected in a more comprehensive and focused program than ever before, with more than 80 speakers contributing increased depth and perspective to a lineup directly shaping the agenda.

The NEM Dubrovnik 2026 full agenda reflects the key forces shaping the media industry today – from structural change and evolving business models to new approaches in content, distribution, and monetization, as well as adaptation to technology, consolidation, and changing audience behaviour. It also places strong emphasis on leadership, decision-making, and the long-term relationships that drive the global content business.

Exploring industry transformation and emerging trends

Panels, presentations, and keynotes will offer diverse perspectives on topics within a shared thematic framework, including industry transformation and emerging trends, with the event opening with NEM Kickoff Three Media Trends powered by European Audiovisual Observatory.

In this format, speakers will explore three key topics: New form of partnerships between broadcasters and global streaming services, Investments in original European content: CEE vs. Western Europe, Consolidation and impact on CEE

The theme of industry transformation and emerging trends will also be explored in the panel What Mega Mergers Mean for the Future of Media. The session will explore how mega-mergers are reshaping the media landscape through global scaling, content consolidation, and cost optimisation, and how this is redefining competition, content strategies, and impacting consumers, regulators, and the industry’s future.

The program will further explore the changing media landscape through discussions on distribution models, audience expectations, and industry hype cycles.

Within this context, panel The Hybrid Future of TV Distribution in 2026: Is Satellite Still “Sexy”, Relevant or Just Necessary? sponsored by SES, will examine the shift toward hybrid delivery models, where OTT expands while satellite remains vital for live events, efficiency, reliability, reach, and sustainability.

In parallel, panel The Trend You Think Is Overhyped sponsored by Backscreen will take a critical look at current industry narratives, separating lasting change from passing hype and asking where future focus and investment should go next.

New Paths in Content Distribution and Monetization

The program will also explore new paths in content distribution and monetization, reflecting how platforms, formats, and technologies are reshaping how audiences discover, consume, and value content.

As boundaries continue to blur, the discussion will focus on emerging opportunities, evolving audience behaviors, and new models of discovery and value creation.

Panel Micro-drama in CEE: Safe Bet or Risky Business? sponsored by Prva TV will examine whether the fast-growing micro-drama format can evolve from global hype into a sustainable opportunity in CEE, exploring audience behaviour, local storytelling culture, platforms, monetization, and brand potential.

The panel YouTube as a Distribution Opportunity will explore how YouTube has become an important part of broadcasters’ ecosystems, offering incremental reach in a fragmented media landscape, especially among younger audiences, while raising questions around sustainable monetization.

As content discovery becomes more challenging in an age of abundance, the panel From Search to Suggestion: How AI is Redefining Content Discovery sponsored by WIZTIVI will focus on how artificial intelligence is shifting discovery from search-based behavior to predictive and personalized recommendation systems.

Finally, the panel Stopping Digital Piracy: What Actually Works? will examine which anti-piracy strategies are delivering real results, from enforcement and coordinated blocking to industry collaboration and regulation, while balancing protection, user rights, and a fair digital marketplace.

Leadership and the Human Perspective in a Changing Industry

The agenda will also place a strong focus on leadership and the human perspective behind decision-making in the industry, exploring how executives navigate complexity, build long-term partnerships, and lead through constant change.

The agenda’s leadership and decision-making focus will feature three keynote sessions with senior industry leaders. Sam Barnett, Chief Executive Officer of Central European Media Enterprises (CME), will explore how local content can win in a global market and why the CEE region is uniquely positioned for growth through world-class talent, resonant formats, and a stronger commitment to the full content value chain.

Jens Richter, CEO, Commercial & International of Fremantle, will examine the transformation of the content landscape from the era of peak TV to today’s more disciplined, profit-driven market, and what comes next as stronger IP, shifting platform dynamics, and new technologies redefine value creation. Henning Tewes, Chief Executive Officer of Antenna Group, will address how accelerating media consolidation is reshaping scale, partnerships, and business models, and how companies can build content, platforms, and experiences that create genuine audience connection and lasting attention.

Further leadership perspectives will continue with panel The Leader’s Decision Making: Intuition vs. Strategy, examining how executives balance data-driven strategy with intuition and experience. The human side of leadership will also be reflected in the panel What Makes Long-Term Buyer-Seller Relationship Work? sponsored by GLOBO, which will focus on how strong buyer-seller relationships go beyond transactions and are built on trust, transparency, and long-term value creation.

Exclusive Screenings and Content Showcases

NEM Dubrovnik 2026 is taking a major step forward, strengthening its place on the international market calendar: its 13th edition will bring together more than 200 content buyers, many of them senior executives with direct decision-making power, raising the profile of the event and reinforcing its real impact on business generation within the audiovisual industry.

Taking place from June 8 to 11 in southern Croatia, the event will once again turn Dubrovnik into the epicenter of the Central and Eastern European (CEE) television ecosystem.

Beyond its regional focus, NEM Dubrovnik continues to establish itself as a key meeting point for both global and local players across the entire value chain, including public broadcasters, commercial TV groups, pay-TV platforms, telecom operators, and major international distributors.

This diversity positions the market not only as the leading event in the CEE region, but also as a strategic gateway for the global TV industry seeking opportunities in these territories.

Confirmed companies include 1+1 Media, A1 Group, AMC Networks International, Antenna Entertainment, ARTE France, Beta Film, Canal+, CME, Croatian Radiotelevision, Deutsche Telekom, HBO Europe, Paramount Global Content Distribution, SPI International (a Canal+ company), Warner Bros.
