Melis Hamamcıoğlu and Barbora Suster discussed the significance of the agreement and presented a slate expanding into streaming originals and animation.

*with reporting by Carolina Mussio and Ana Paula Carreira from Cannes, France.

Eccho Rights announced the first international presale of The Hatmaker (Şapkacı Kadınlar) at Mipcom 2026. The new period drama, produced by O3 Medya and starring Pınar Deniz and Selahattin Paşalı, has been acquired by MBC Group for its Shahid streaming platform and linear channels across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), ahead of filming, which is scheduled to begin in November.

“This year we’re bringing our new show The Hatmaker to the market, and we’re very proud of it. Production will begin in November, it’s expected to premiere in January, and we’ve already secured a presale to the Middle East with MBC. It’s a very important sale for us,” said Melis Hamamcıoğlu, Sales Director at Eccho Rights, speaking with ttv in Cannes.

“For us, this is the news of the market. Our biggest launch is The Hatmaker, and the deal we’ve just closed with MBC is essential because the series will premiere in January. Securing a sale this early is a great success, and we’re delighted to announce it at Mipcom,” added Barbora Suster, Head of Latin America and Iberia at Eccho Rights.

Created and written by Necati Şahin, directed by Ömür Atay and produced by Suzan Sümeli for O3 Medya, The Hatmaker will comprise 60 episodes of 45 minutes each and will be available internationally both as a finished drama and as a scripted format.

Set in the early 1920s, the story follows Ayşe, a woman abandoned by her husband, Rıza, after a brutal attack. Five years later, financial hardship forces her to move to İzmir with her children, sister and mother-in-law. There, she learns the craft of hatmaking and finds an opportunity to establish her own business while providing employment for other women. However, her newfound independence comes under threat when she encounters Rıza again, now married into one of the city’s most powerful families.

“It’s a period drama with an incredible cast. Pınar Deniz, our leading actress, starred in Family Secrets, a series that is very well known across international markets. And Selahattin Paşalı has appeared in series such as Ömer and Envy, as well as Netflix’s The Museum of Innocence. So we really have an A-list cast,” Suster said.

“The story of The Hatmaker has all the elements we’re looking for. It’s about a woman who empowers herself, who takes care of her family and children on her own, and who manages to rise from terrible circumstances, move forward and build a business. She doesn’t just achieve independence for herself; she also helps other women in similar situations by giving them jobs,” she explained.

“And, of course, there are love stories, heartbreak and everything a good telenovela needs. Although it’s set in the 1920s and connected to a very specific historical context, it’s a very universal story: a woman who suffers but manages to get back on her feet and move forward despite everything. Those are stories that tend to appeal to audiences in every territory,” she added.

“We’re talking to several other clients who may decide to acquire the series even before it starts airing. Securing further presales would be a great success, and that’s one of our main objectives,” Suster concluded.

New Dramas for Free-to-Air TV and Streaming

Alongside The Hatmaker, Eccho Rights arrived in Cannes with Asiye, the new daily drama produced by Kino Film Productions for Kanal 7, scheduled to premiere in Turkey in November.

“Another title that’s really resonating with our clients and generating a lot of interest is Asiye, a daily drama being produced for Kanal 7. It’s the story of a woman who loses everything: she loses her husband, she loses her son, she’s falsely accused of a crime and ends up in prison. When she’s released, she has to rebuild her life and search for her missing son, hoping to be reunited with him,” Suster explained.

The series stars Esengül Aypek and Ferhat Işıktaş and is directed by Taner Tunç and Nuh Şen. It is the latest production in Eccho Rights’ partnership with Kanal 7, which has previously delivered international titles including Legacy, Winds of Love and Behind the Veil.

The distributor is also showcasing three productions developed for TOD, beIN Media Group’s streaming platform: Alıkara, a romantic thriller from Karga Seven Pictures; Doors of Destiny, a drama starring Esra Bilgiç and Birkan Sokullu; and The Florist, a romantic comedy from OM Content.

“Alongside those two more traditional dramas, we’re bringing three series produced for TOD. They’re shorter, slightly more premium productions, aimed at streaming platforms and regional pay-TV channels,” Suster said.

“We believe the content we’re bringing can work for linear television across different time slots, from afternoons to prime time. And, of course, with the shorter series, we’re also looking to supply streaming platforms and pay television,” she added.

Animation Opens a New Business Segment

Eccho Rights has also entered animation distribution for the first time, adding King Shakir (Kral Şakir) and Super Team (Süper Bir Takım) to its catalogue. Both Turkish franchises are produced by Grafi2000 Productions and include animated series and feature films.

“This year we’re not just bringing dramas; we’ve also expanded our catalogue into animation. We have two animated series, each with accompanying movies, that were major successes in Turkey. Animation is a genre we hadn’t worked with before, so it’s something new for us,” Suster explained.

“We need to find new opportunities, diversify and identify areas where we can continue growing within the industry and bring something valuable to the market. That’s why we’re expanding the catalogue and trying to respond to the needs of different territories,” she added.

Suster also discussed international demand for Turkish drama in an environment where broadcasters’ programming requirements continue to fluctuate.

“Demand for Turkish content remains high, although obviously it has its ups and downs. I don’t think it’s a genre that’s going to disappear. There are territories that, at certain moments, invest more in entertainment or local productions, but these things are cyclical. Eventually, fiction always finds its way back into broadcasters’ schedules,” she said. “A broadcaster might not have a slot for Turkish drama today, but six months from now it could need one again. Entertainment and local production fluctuate quite a lot, and you can’t always rely on a production being delivered on time. Producing content is also expensive. So programming slots change, and we try to respond to the needs of each individual market,” she explained.

Although she noticed somewhat lighter traffic in Mipcom’s corridors, Suster emphasized the intensity of Eccho Rights’ commercial activity during the event. “It’s true that the corridors look a little emptier, but our schedules are completely full. We’re meeting all the clients we need to see and having all the meetings we need to have. We don’t even have time to eat. So, for us, it’s been a good market,” she said.

Filming is set to begin on October 17.

Eccho Rights will launch Asiye, a new daily drama produced by Kino Film Productions for Turkish broadcaster Kanal 7, at Mipcom 2026. International presales will open ahead of the series’ planned November premiere, with filming scheduled to begin on October 17.

The series marks the latest addition to Eccho Rights’ long-standing partnership with Kanal 7, which has delivered international titles including Legacy, Winds of Love and Behind the Veil. The latter became the highest-rated daily drama ever broadcast in Turkey and is currently in its fourth season.

Asiye follows a woman who, seven years earlier, lost her husband, her newborn son and her freedom on the same day. After being released from prison, she saves a drowning boy outside the home of one of Istanbul’s most powerful families, unaware that he is the son she believed she would never see again.

The series is directed by Taner Tunç and Nuh Şen, both of whom previously worked on Legacy. The cast is led by Esengül Aypek as Asiye and Ferhat Işıktaş as İlyas.

“Kanal 7 knows exactly how to produce daily drama with international appeal, and Asiye has the elements that made Behind the Veil and Legacy international successes: a mother’s love, a hidden truth and a powerful family with plenty to conceal,” said Handan Özkubat, Director of Turkish Drama at Eccho Rights.

Özkubat also highlighted the directing team’s experience in the genre, noting that Mipcom offers buyers an opportunity to secure the highly anticipated series ahead of its premiere.

International distributor Eccho Rights has acquired international distribution rights to three new Turkish drama series from TOD, the streaming platform owned by beIN Media Group.

All three titles will be presented to buyers at Mipcom in Cannes.

The new slate spans romantic thriller, psychological drama, and romantic comedy. It is Eccho Rights’ latest collaboration with TOD, following the crime drama Beneath the Surface and the high-concept romance Another Chance. Eccho Rights holds worldwide distribution rights.

The first title is Alıkara (10 x 45′), which premiered on TOD earlier this month and has already generated strong audience interest and encouraging early momentum. It is produced by Karga Seven Pictures, the company behind Beneath the Surface. The series stars Miray Daner and Halit Özgür Sarı in an intense love story set against a backdrop of crime and grief. Işık is a gifted forensic psychologist living with bipolar disorder. Deniz is a homicide detective hardened by past trauma. When Işık’s father disappears and Deniz investigates his niece’s suspicious death, their paths cross in a morgue. As the two are drawn deeper into darkness together, each becomes the other’s refuge — two damaged people slowly making each other whole.

Doors of Destiny (Zamanın Kapıları, 20 x 45′) marks Eccho Rights’ first collaboration with leading Turkish producer Medyapım. It stars Esra Bilgiç and Birkan Sokullu. Sinan is a brilliant, reclusive computer genius whose life changes when he meets Nevra, the ambitious daughter of one of Türkiye’s most powerful businessmen. Their encounter unlocks buried secrets about Nevra’s identity and family. Their growing attraction then draws them into a passionate relationship — and into a world of betrayal, violence and the darker side of Istanbul.

Completing the slate is The Florist (Çiçekçi Kız, 13 x 25’). This romantic comedy from OM Content stars Helin Kandemir and Hakan Çelebi, and premieres on TOD in November. It follows an idealistic flower-shop owner who, in a bid to save her business, unknowingly takes on an undercover police officer as her new partner.

Handan Özkubat, Director of Turkish Drama at Eccho Rights, said: “Our partnership with TOD keeps getting stronger, and this slate shows exactly why. Buyers today want very different things, from linear broadcasters to streamers to digital platforms, and these three series cover that range. There’s premium, cast-led drama in Alıkara and Doors of Destiny, and something fresh and fun in The Florist. We can’t wait to share all three with buyers at Mipcom.”

Yadigar Belbuken, VP Entertainment at beIN Media Group, said: “Eccho Rights has been an important partner in bringing TOD Studios originals to international audiences, and we value their continued support in taking titles such as Beneath the Surface and Another Chance to global buyers. These three new series reflect the breadth and ambition of the original content we are developing at TOD, and we are looking forward to introducing them to global buyers and audiences around the world.”

International distributor Eccho Rights has licensed a package of four hit Turkish dramas from leading producer OGM Pictures to Pasiones, the leading Spanish-language network for global telenovelas, bringing a slate of proven ratings winners to audiences across the United States.

The agreement sees Pasiones acquire Golden Boy (Yalı Çapkını), Chrysalis (Camdaki Kız), My Home My Destiny (Doğduğun Ev Kaderindir) and Ömer, four of the most successful titles from one of Türkiye’s most prolific drama producers. All four will air dubbed into Spanish for Pasiones’ audience.

Barbora Suster, Head of Latin America and Iberia at Eccho Rights, said: “These are four titles of real quality – emotionally rich, beautifully made and built on the kind of storytelling that keeps audiences hooked night after night. We’re delighted these series will now find new fans across the US.”

The titles

Golden Boy (Yalı Çapkını, produced by OGM Pictures for Star TV) — a ratings phenomenon following a reckless young heir whose life is upended by an arranged marriage, and a breakout hit that has since travelled to more than 130 territories worldwide.

Chrysalis (Camdaki Kız, OGM Pictures for Kanal D) — the story of Nalan, a young woman determined to find happiness and love against every obstacle. The series held the number-one spot in Turkish ratings for over a year and won the Golden Butterfly Award for Best Drama.

My Home My Destiny (Doğduğun Ev Kaderindir, OGM Pictures for TV8) — a modern drama built around identity, belonging and love, starring Demet Özdemir and İbrahim Çelikkol, which has sold to more than 90 countries.

Ömer (OGM Pictures for Star TV) — an emotionally charged love story set within a close-knit, conservative community, following the sensitive, artistic Ömer and the impossible romance that upends his world. The series was a standout ratings success on its domestic run.

International distributor Eccho Rights has concluded two new deals with The Walt Disney Company, licensing acclaimed Turkish drama series Golden Boy to STAR Life in Portugal and My Home My Destiny to Disney+ across the MENA region.

The agreements build on the partnership between Eccho Rights and The Walt Disney Company established earlier this year, when STAR Life Portugal acquired romantic comedy titles Everywhere I Go and My Sweet Lie, and mark a significant broadening of the relationship across both platform and territory.

Golden Boy (original title: Yalı Çapkını) is produced by OGM Pictures for Star TV. A ratings phenomenon in Turkey, the series follows a reckless young heir whose life is turned upside down by an arranged marriage, combining high-stakes family drama with sharp wit and a deeply compelling central romance.

My Home My Destiny (original title: Doğduğun Ev Kaderindir) is produced by OGM Pictures for TV8. A modern drama built around themes of identity, belonging and love, the series broke multiple ratings records on TV8 and has sold to over 150 territories worldwide.

Melis Hamamcioglu, Director of Digital Media Acquisition & Content Sales at Eccho Rights, commented: “To be expanding our relationship with The Walt Disney Company across two of their platforms and into a new region in the space of a few months is a real marker of where Turkish drama sits today in the international market. The appetite among premium platforms for proven, emotionally driven content from Turkey is only growing, and we look forward to building on this further.”

International distributor Eccho Rights will handle international sales for The Hatmaker (Şapkacı Kadınlar), the brand-new drama series from leading Turkish producer O3 Medya.

The series will launch to buyers for presales at this month’s Mipcom in Cannes, ahead of its planned premiere in Turkey in early 2027.

A sweeping period drama starring Pınar Deniz and Selahattin Paşalı, The Hatmaker is the story of Ayşe, a war veteran seeking a path to independence, while the husband who abandoned her threatens everything she is building.

Pınar Deniz returns to linear TV for the first time since her leading role in the International Emmy-winning Yargı (Family Secrets). Selahattin Paşalı won plaudits for his title role in Ömer, a huge ratings success for Star TV. Earlier this year he led the Netflix series Museum of Innocence (Masumiyet Müzesi), adapted from Nobel laureate Orhan Pamuk’s celebrated novel.

Handan Özkubat, Director of Turkish Drama at Eccho Rights, said: “Pınar Deniz and Selahattin Paşalı are two of the most compelling actors working in Turkey today, and seeing them together at the heart of a story this ambitious is genuinely exciting. Ayşe is a heroine of real depth and courage, and I have no doubt audiences around the world will fall for her.”

Saner Ayar, Founder and Managing Partner at O3 Medya, said: “Eccho Rights has been at our side for many years, taking our stories to audiences around the world, and we could not think of a better partner for The Hatmaker.”

Set in the early 1920s, as Turkey undergoes profound change, the series follows Ayşe, whose happy family life is shattered by a brutal attack. In the aftermath, her husband Rıza abandons her. Five years later, hardship drives her to İzmir with her children, sister and mother-in-law. There, in the ruins left by the Great Fire, an unlikely bond with an elderly woman introduces her to the craft of hatmaking. It offers Ayşe the chance to build a livelihood for herself and for other women. But İzmir also brings Ayşe face to face with Rıza, now married into one of the city’s most powerful families. As Ayşe fights to build a future on her own terms, the husband who once abandoned her becomes a powerful threat to her independence.

The Hatmaker is created and written by Necati Şahin, directed by Ömür Atay and produced by Suzan Sümeli for O3 Medya. The series (60 x 45′) is available both as a finished drama and as a scripted format.

The series continues Eccho Rights’ long-standing partnership with O3 Medya, whose dramas have been a mainstay of the Eccho Rights slate. I Am Mother (Sandık Kokusu) and My Sweet Lie (Benim Tatlı Yalanım) in particular have both generated significant international business, with My Sweet Lie also adapted as a format in multiple territories.

International distributor Eccho Rights and leading Romanian broadcaster Pro TV have extended their successful scripted-format partnership, with Pro TV’s adaptation of hit Turkish drama Kaçak launching as Fără Urmă (Without a Trace).

The series airs on Pro TV and streaming platform VOYO, airing weekly on Mondays.

Kaçak is the third Turkish drama format Eccho Rights has licensed to Pro TV, following two of the broadcaster’s biggest recent hits. Ezel became Vlad, which ran for four seasons and is widely regarded as one of the finest Romanian dramas ever produced, while Insider (İçerde) became Clanul (The Clan) – a phenomenon so popular it spawned its own spin-off, Tătuțu (Our Father). Fără Urmă’s creative producer, writer and director is Anghel Damian, who was also behind Vlad, Clanul and Tătuțu.

Produced by Süreç Film for ATV, the original Kaçak was a top-rating thriller across two seasons in Türkiye. It follows a policeman who kills the son of a ruthless mafia boss and is forced to build a new identity in a quiet town – until an act of heroism exposes him and drags him back into a war with his past.

Pro TV’s adaptation transposes the story to a remote Transylvanian mountain village, where Barbu (Alex Calangiu) lives a peaceful life with his family until a buried past resurfaces, forcing him to confront the powerful and corrupt Scarlat family to protect those he loves. The cast also features Adela Popescu, Aylin Cadîr, Mihai Constantin and Daniela Nane.

Handan Özkubat, Director of Turkish Drama at Eccho Rights, said: “Pro TV has become one of our most valued format partners, and their track record speaks for itself: Ezel became the blockbuster Vlad, and Insider became Clanul, a hit so big it earned its own spin-off. Kaçak offers exactly the high-stakes, emotional storytelling Pro TV do so brilliantly, and we’ve every confidence Fără Urmă will follow suit. We’re thrilled to continue the partnership and to represent the series to buyers worldwide.”

Eccho Rights will represent Fără Urmă internationally alongside Pro TV’s other Turkish-format adaptations, offering the series to broadcasters and platforms worldwide as a ready-made.
