Babar and the Adventures of Badou is an animated children’s television series based on Babar the elephant, a character created by Jean and Laurent de Brunhoff.

Babar and the Adventures of Badou continues the legacy of the classic character Babar, which has inspired books, video games, shows, and merchandise shops. The story takes place several years after the original series and introduces Badou, Babar’s 8‑year‑old grandson, as the main character. Although the series mostly features new characters within the Babar universe, some of the original characters remain, such as Babar, Celeste, and Lord Rataxes, along with other classic characters who also appear. The series follows Badou’s adventures as he, along with his friends and family, solves numerous mysteries, puzzles, and situations in Celesteville. The city now includes animals other than elephants. Accompanied by his inseparable friends, Badou explores the world around him, facing challenges, solving mysteries, and learning important lessons that help him grow as a future leader.

Babar and the Adventures of Badou premiered globally on September 6, 2010, in Australia and later in Canada, the United States, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Russia, Italy, and the Middle East, among other territories.

Babar is considered a global cultural phenomenon whose admirers span different ages, and he stands alongside Disney’s Mickey Mouse as one of the world’s most recognized children’s characters. Babar and the Adventures of Badou promotes fundamental values for child development, such as the importance of friendship and teamwork, developing empathy and understanding toward others, strengthening self-confidence, making responsible decisions and learning about consequences, and respecting diversity and coexistence. Critics praise the warmth of the characters and the friendly tone of the stories.

Babar and the Adventures of Badou joins other high-quality animated series such as Franklin and Friends (recently premiered), Mini Heroes of the Forest, Musipaches, Maya the Bee, Angelina Ballerina, Strawberry Shortcake, Bob the Builder, Thomas & Friends, and Caillou. Semillitas complements its programming with educational interstitials that celebrate the values, traditions, and festivities of Latin culture. Semillitas broadcasts its content in High Definition and includes Closed Captioning and Audio Description, which earned it the prestigious Outstanding Achievement: Spanish Media Award granted by the American Council of the Blind.
