The romantic comedy is currently filming in Bogotá, Colombia.
Somos Films, the Spanish-language feature film production company operated by Ivanna Villanueva and part of Somos Group, together with Rodando Films, has begun production on Cuando menos la esperaba, a new romantic dramedy currently shooting in Bogotá, Colombia.
With this project, Somos Films expands its slate to 16 feature films produced across different genres aimed at Spanish-speaking audiences. The company has developed films in countries including Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, and Peru, focusing on stories with broad appeal across the region.
The film is directed by Carlos Daniel Malavé, a Venezuelan filmmaker with more than 14 feature films to his credit. The director has previously collaborated with Somos Films on titles such as Tres días para reconquistarla, One Way, and Amor en el aire.
Cuando menos la esperaba follows the story of Carlos and Laura, played by Venezuelan actor Augusto Nitti and Colombian singer and actress Michelle Gutty. The story begins when they meet at a school gathering for their children and develop a friendship that gradually turns into something deeper. What once seemed like stable relationships in their respective lives begin to unravel, forcing them to face decisions that could change their futures.
The cast also includes Karina Velázquez, Juancho Ortega, and Rodrigo Celis. The production is expected to shoot for four weeks and is being filmed in 6K format.
