The event, held at The Lillian venue in Los Angeles to follow the Oscars ceremony and highlight the nominated productions, brought together the Ibero-American audiovisual industry in honor of Sirāt and O Agente Secreto.
On the biggest night for the American film and television industry, EGEDA celebrated the growing presence of Ibero-American cinema at the Oscars with a gathering to watch the ceremony and pay tribute to O Agente Secreto –an international co-production between CinemaScópio Produções (Brazil), MK Productions (France), One Two Films (Germany), and Lemming Film (Netherlands)– and Sirāt, a Movistar Plus+ original film produced in collaboration with Filmes da Ermida, El Deseo, Uri Films, and 4a4 Productions; both Ibero-American works nominated at this year’s awards.

Among the Ibero-American productions, O Agente Secreto garnered nominations for Best International Feature Film, Best Picture, Best Actor for Wagner Moura, and Best Casting Director for Gabriel Domingues.
Meanwhile, Sirāt garnered nominations for Best International Feature Film and Best Sound for Laia Casanovas, Amanda Villavieja, and Yasmina Praderas.

Throughout the evening, more than 800 industry professionals and members of the specialized press attended the event at The Lillian in Los Angeles to recognize and celebrate the growing international interest in Ibero-American films, embodied this time by O Agente Secreto and Sirāt, as well as the nomination of Mexican José Antonio García for Best Sound for One Battle After Another.

In the words of Sirāt’s director, Oliver Laxe: “This is a success for everyone. I hope there will be more next year. The Hollywood Academy has embraced me warmly, and I have felt very loved”. These words reflect the growing recognition that the American film industry is giving to Ibero-American talent and demonstrate the moment of international visibility the sector is experiencing after the success of these productions in theaters.

Following the example of previous editions, the event organized by EGEDA enjoys the close support and participation of the Ministry of Culture through the ICAA (Spanish Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts), further demonstrating its ongoing commitment to promoting audiovisual production and heritage. This year, they are joined by ICEX (Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade), Spain Export and Investment/Audiovisual from Spain, Movistar Plus+, the Spanish Film Academy, the Government of Catalonia, and Beverly Hilton.
The now-traditional celebration of this event once again reflects EGEDA US’s commitment to promoting and supporting the Ibero-American audiovisual industry in the United States, fostering its mission to create productions with a unique perspective for an increasingly significant audience in North America.
