In the following interview with ttvnews, Giovanni Zárate Oliveira, Programming and Content Director at UNIFE Mexico, shares what content they want to add to their catalog in the international market.

In an industry as dynamic as the entertainment industry, it is essential to stay one step ahead of the latest trends and understand what the international market demands in terms of content.

To this end, ttvnews presents the Buyers: What are buyers looking for? Initiative to learn first-hand about the programming needs of buyers around the world.

This time, we spoke to Giovanni Zárate Oliveira, Programming and Content Director at UNIFE Mexico:

What kind of content would you say worked best for the company in 2025?

At Unife Mexico and Central America, we’re building a programming lineup that stands as a real alternative to the big networks. We’ve got a morning magazine show, news, kids’ programming, telenovelas, movies, series, competition reality shows — basically, a full mix for the whole family.

What types of content, formats, or genres are you looking for at industry events?

Since the channel’s early days, we’ve featured content from Record, including Seriella’s biblical telenovelas, as well as Caracol’s hits, competition shows like El Desafío, and intense dramas like Amar y Vivir and Canto para no llorar. We also have a great selection of Sony movies and some solid series from Paramount.

Overall, we’re into action, adventure, and comedy — not really horror — but we’re always open to checking out what’s out there and seeing what fits into our schedule.

Where do you see the biggest growth potential for the company right now, and how does that show up in your programming strategy?

We’ve launched our apps for Smart TV, iOS, and Android. We believe these new tools will help us reach new audiences across the country, and we’re confident that’ll drive major growth for the channel. Traditional companies and brands that have been part of Mexico’s identity for years can now advertise with us, and that’s a huge step forward.
