Secrets of Pearls, Hekimoglu, and For My Son are the new titles that have joined the distributor’s extensive catalog.
Somos Distribution will launch its new releases in Miami during Content Americas, presenting a slate of Turkish dramas led by Secrets of Pearls, Hekimoglu, and For My Son, titles that further strengthen the company’s broad catalog.
Secrets of Pearls consists of 135 episodes across two seasons. The drama tells the story of Azem, a literature professor whose perfect life collapses when he is imprisoned and accused of his wife’s murder. After years behind bars, he dreams of reuniting with his children, who have since been adopted by different families. After his release, he meets Dilber, a troubled dancer, and an uncertain relationship develops. To survive, he gives private lessons under an assumed name and becomes attracted to Piraye, the mother of one of his students. Torn between divided love and the passage of time, Azem struggles to rebuild his life and recover what he has lost.
The drama Hekimoglu, with 157 episodes, stars Timuçin Esen as Ateş Hekimoğlu, an infectious-diseases and nephrology specialist who solves extraordinary cases using distinctive methods alongside his three-person team. The series follows the daily life of this antisocial, witty, and unconventional medical genius who challenges hospital rules and does whatever it takes to practice medicine his way. Accompanied by Orhan Yavuz (Okan Yalabık), as Hekimoğlu’s reputation gradually grows, his inability to keep up with the hospital hierarchy often puts his administrator, İpek (Ebru Özkan), in difficult situations. A local adaptation of the hit U.S. series House M.D., the show explores themes of love, sacrifice, camaraderie, discipline, and humanity in every episode. It was voted the best remake in the history of Turkish television by viewers.
The new additions to the Turkish drama portfolio conclude with For My Son. This production consists of 242 episodes across three seasons. The story follows the drama of Poyraz Karayel (İlker Kaleli), a police officer who was suspended from the force for a crime he did not commit. After being released from prison, Poyraz finds himself without a job or a family, and his son is no longer with him. As he tries to devise a plan to regain custody of his son and reclaim his profession, his former boss offers him a mission: to infiltrate one of the city’s most notorious mafia families. Bahri Umman (Musa Uzunlar) is a powerful crime boss, and Poyraz must provide intelligence on the organization and bring Bahri to justice. Only then will he be able to restore his reputation and rebuild his life. Along the way, Poyraz falls in love with Bahri’s daughter, Ayşegül (Burçin Terzioğlu). However, this love seems impossible, as Poyraz must keep his mission a secret from her. The operation of his life awaits him.
Secrets of Pearls, Hekimoglu, and For My Son join other successful Turkish dramas in the portfolio, such as Bahar, Love for Rent, Gummus, Destiny, and That Girl. In addition, the RCTV catalog is also offered, featuring major telenovelas remastered in HD such as Juana la Virgen and Mi Gorda Bella, as well as a complete collection of classic romantic telenovelas of all time, available for AVOD and FAST deals.
