The Portuguese adaptation of Turkish drama Gülperi, produced by TIMSBI Productions and distributed internationally by Global Agency, won the 2026 Venice TV Award in the Soap/Telenovela category. The three companies celebrated the achievement during the Cannes market.
Vitória, the Portuguese adaptation of Turkish drama Gülperi, has won the 2026 Venice TV Award in the Soap/Telenovela category, an achievement celebrated by Global Agency, TIMSBI Productions and Portuguese broadcaster SIC during Mipcom in Cannes.
Originally produced in Turkey by TIMSBI Productions, Gülperi was distributed internationally by Global Agency, which also licensed the scripted format rights for its Portuguese adaptation.
The local version premiered in prime time on SIC and also became available on OPTO and Disney+, expanding its reach across linear television and streaming.
Both productions tell the story of a determined mother fighting injustice and family opposition to reunite with her children and rebuild her life.
“We are very proud to see Vitória receive this prestigious international recognition. SIC is a strong partner that we greatly value working with, and it was a pleasure to celebrate this achievement together at Mipcom,” said İzzet Pinto, founder and CEO of Global Agency. “Gülperi has been sold to many countries and has achieved success across international markets. We believe its journey will continue with many more successes around the world.”.
Burak Sağyaşar, cofounder and CEO of TIMSBI Productions, also highlighted the international journey of the original story and its adaptation in Portugal.
“Seeing a story we created in Turkey find a new life in another country, and seeing audiences there embrace it as their own, is always very meaningful for us. Gülperi is a solid story that has been warmly received in many of the countries it has aired in, and its success in Angola, Mozambique and Portugal was so strong that we were pleased to have SIC continue on the journey with a local remake,” he said.
“To see that success turn into Vitória and now be crowned with a Venice TV Award makes us extremely proud. An adaptation only works when the local team truly makes the story their own, while keeping the heart of the original alive. SIC has done that beautifully,” he explained. “We are very happy to share this moment with our partners here at Mipcom and to celebrate the success of Vitória together.”
