The executive will oversee the SPE businesses of theatrical and TV distribution, media networks and home entertainment across all of Latin America. He will also take over the SPT responsibilities held by Alex Marín, who left the company in June.

Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) announced John Rossiter is taking on the expanded role as EVP, Distribution and Networks, Latin America, starting on January 1.

He will now oversee the SPE businesses of theatrical and television distribution, media networks and home entertainment across all of Latin America.

In addition, Rossiter is taking over the SPT responsibilities previously held by Alexander Marin who left the company this past summer. He plans to relocate to Miami next year.

Rossiter will report to Steven O’Dell, President International Distribution for SPE’s motion picture group, and Mike Wald, EVP International Distribution and Networks, SPE.

Most recently, Rossiter has served as EVP Distribution and Networks for Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa for Sony Pictures Television (SPT). In this role, he has been responsible for television and home entertainment businesses and managing SPT-owned networks in the region.

Rossiter first joined Sony Pictures in 2000 as a director of business development and finance.

In 2004, he joined HBO where he worked for seven years as SVP of Sales, Operations and Business Development. Notably, Rossiter was responsible for expanding HBO into five additional countries as well as launching the Cinemax and HBO Go businesses lines that contributed to double digit revenue growth during his tenure.

He returned to Sony Pictures in 2011 to run the networks business in Central Europe. Rossiter was based in Budapest for seven years as SVP and Managing Director of Networks overseeing six brands with 26 distinct channel feeds across 13 countries in Central Europe. In this role, he launched the dedicated SVOD service AXN Now as well as AXN Spin; led the acquisition of Viasat channels which significantly grew Sony’s portfolio in Hungary; established in-house distribution sales and marketing in four countries; and built a stand-alone ad sales team.

In 2018, Rossiter added distribution to his portfolio and relocated to London when he was named EVP, Distribution and Networks for CEEMA.

Rossiter began his broadcast career as a senior financial analyst at Walt Disney Television International.
