Disney+ announced that it now filming Champeta, el ritmo de la Tierra, a new series from the Disney+ Original Productions label that will arrive on the platform in 2022.
The production, made in Colombia (Bogotá and Santa Marta) by Vista Productions Inc, revolves around two young people who fall in love dancing champeta in the streets of the Colombian Caribbean and discover that, through dance, they awaken supernatural powers to save the Earth. of a dangerous threat of destruction.
The series features original music composed and produced by Colombian artist Mr. Black El Presidente, who also plays Chamo in the story.
Written by Andrés Gelós, Pablo Junovich and Santiago Guerty, Champeta is composed of 10 40-minute episodes. The production was a beneficiary of the CINA (Audiovisual Investment Certificate) incentive, granted by the government of Colombia and administered by Proimimages.
The protagonists of this new story are: Keyller de la Hoz in the role of Duma, Daniela Trujillo, who plays Fatimah, Marlon Moreno in the role of Elías and Bárbara Perea, who plays Alma.
The new series follows Duma (de la Hoz) and Fatimah (Trujillo), a boy and a girl who come from very different universes and fall in love dancing champeta in the streets of Barrio de la Bahía, in the Colombian Caribbean. Elías (Moreno) also lives there, an enigmatic old man who knows the powers of this indigenous rhythm. When the feet of Duma and Fatimah caress the ground to the rhythm of the champeta, they awaken the ancient power of the Earth, which has chosen them to protect it from the destructive forces of a powerful corporation. Little by little, Duma and Fatimah will develop their supernatural powers together and, accompanied by their friends, will make use of them to save the Bahia Quarter, the city and the Earth as a whole.
The cast of Champeta, the rhythm of the Earth is completed by: Angely Gaviria, Johann Vera, Sergio Herrera, Allison Vega, Danharry Colorado, Blanca Palacio, Julián Calderón, Jean Carlo Posada, Sebastián González, Rafael Novoa, James Vargas, Cristian Vargas, Ricardo Vélez and Carolina Angarita.
