Reed Midem and All3media International announced that Elo Company’s Building Battles won the MipCancun Formats Pitch.

Reed Midem and All3media International announced on Thursday that the Brazilian format Building Battles by Elo Company won the second edition of the MipCancun Formats Pitch.

It is a culinary competition show in which people from the same building compete with each other, demonstrating how food can bring people together.

“Building Battle is a fantastic new approach to cooking formats. The essence of the show is to find a connection and unite people, an idea very in line with all that we lived during the Covid. It offers both an entertaining and exciting experience,” said Janel Downing, VP of All3media International for Latin America and president of the MipCancun Formats Pitch jury.

Paula Garcia, Executive Producer of Building Battles, added: “We are happy we won. We believe that it is a strong project with the ability to travel.”

The winner received US$ 5,000 to continue developing its format together with a consulting package from All3media.

As they highlighted, this second edition saw a large increase in the number of participants, with three countries presenting ideas for the first time: Panama, Ecuador and Uruguay.

The format was chosen by a jury composed of Janel Downing, Felix Wessler (COO, Filmpool) Michela Giorelli (VP of Production and Development of Discovery Networks Latin America and US) Carolina Iacia (Senior Director of Acquisitions of Globo) and Juan Vicente (Director of Content & International Business of Mega).

Along with Building Battles, the jury selected five other finalists:

Max Planner (Mexico): a competition between party planners

Celeb Diaries (Spain): the show offers an opportunity to peek into the childhood of various celebrities through their intimate diaries

Trix & Trax (Venezuela): reality competition challenge set in a school for the TikTok generation
