The international distributor has sold the new Russian thriller to WarnerMedia for HBO Max in Latin America, as well as to Topic in the US and SBS in Australia.
Beta Film has closed a row of deals for the Russian audience hit Dead Mountain – The Dyatlov Pass Incident, including the US, Australia and Latin America.
The thriller series, based on true events, was acquired by First Look Media’s streaming service Topic for the US, by SBS Australia and by WarnerMedia Latin America for HBO Max.
The multi-awarded drama series also found its way to the national broadcaster of Estonia, ERR and Cirkus in the Nordics. Earlier this year Beta Film struck a deal with Disney’s Fox Germany where Dead Mountain – The Dyatlov Pass Incident premiered on July 5. Beta Film is in final negotiations with Poland and other Eastern European territories.
Dead Mountain – The Dyatlov Pass Incident is based on the famous real-life case of the mysterious death of nine Russian hikers in 1959, one of the big unsolved crime cases in Europe and an international media phenomenon. The Soviet Noir series is created by 1-2-3 Production’s Evgeniy Nikishov and Valeriy Fedorovich, both serving as directors, producers and showrunners, and screenwriter Ilya Kulikov.
Rated as the #1 show on Russia’s Premier.One this winter, Dead Mountain – The Dyatlov Pass Incident won four awards at the Russian Producers Guild Awards 2021 – in the categories Best Actor, Best Screenplay, Best Sound and Best Visual Effects. It was also awarded with the award of Best Internet Series at the Russian Web-Industry Awards 2021.
The Soviet-noir series will premiere in the U.S. on Topic starting on September 2nd.
