The series produced and sold internationally by Filmax, has the Filmin Original stamp.

This fictional series, with autobiographical undertones, is created by and stars the sisters Joana and Mireia Vilapuig, actresses who, as teenagers, were in the highly successful series The Red Band Society.

SelfTape is made up of 6, 30-minute episodes and shot mainly in Catalan and Spanish, with some dialogues in English. It was co-written by Joana and Mireia Vilapuig, along with Ivan Mercadé (You Shall Not Lie, Dates), Carlos Robisco and Clara Esparrach. The project is also executive produced by Mercadé and the Vilapuig sisters, as well as Pau Freixas (You Shall Not Lie, Three Days of Christmas, The Red Band Society), Carlos Fernández and Laura Fernández Brites.

Filmax and Filmin were attracted by the project’s personal touch, given that Joana and Mireia Vilapuig, 27 and 25 years old respectively, found fame as actresses in the series The Red Band Society a decade ago. Joana Vilapuig has also worked on films such as Palm Trees in the Snow and El sitio de Otto, while Mireia has been in series such as Night & Day and The Innocent.

SelfTape is a fictional series with touches of the autobiographical, about two actresses who found stardom as little girls and who now, as twenty-somethings, are trying to find their place in the audiovisual industry and in life, at a time where their lives are anything but certain. All six episodes are directed by Barbara Farré, winner of several prizes for her short film The Last Virgin and director of music videos such as Rosalía’s F*cking Money Man, or El Relámpago, by Amaia.

Ivan Diaz, Head of International at Filmax, speaks enthusiastically about the new production: “Our creative team continue to write exciting scripts. The series is fresh and modern, and its interesting mix of reality and fiction make it very original. The themes dealt within the series affect young women everywhere in today’s world and so we’re sure it will travel well internationally”.

Filmax is presenting the series at this year’s Content Americas and buyers will be able to see an exclusive promo with the first images.

SelfTape is a Filmax production and boasts the Filmin Original stamp, participation by Radiotelevisión Española and the support of the Institut Català de les Empreses Culturals (ICEC). It will be released on Filmin during the first quarter of 2023.
