The producer-distributor has secured deals in Estonia, Greece, Israel, Spain, and the CIS for SandStone Global’s three-part historical docuseries.

Keshet International (KI) has closed a new wave of international sales for the premium history docuseries Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, including a deal with Movistar Plus+ for Spain.

The three-part series, co-produced with SandStone Global, will have its official world premiere on Saturday, August 2 at 6:30 p.m. (local time) on Channel 5 in the UK.

Following initial presales with Channel 5 in the UK, SBS in Australia, Histoire TV in France, Canal+ Polska in Poland, and Prima Group in the Czech Republic, KI has now secured new deals with Movistar Plus+ for Spain and Andorra, Cosmote TV – Cosmote Telekom in Greece, public broadcaster ERR in Estonia, Ananey (a Paramount company) in Israel, and in 14 Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, including Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, and Ukraine.

KI is also offering international buyers an at-home augmented reality (AR) experience developed in partnership with SandStone Global Productions and Snapchat’s AR Studio in Paris. This cutting-edge feature brings the wonders of the ancient world into millions of living rooms around the globe.

Kelly Wright, KI’s Managing Director of Distribution, commented: “We’re thrilled to welcome more partners on board ahead of the series’ world premiere. We’re also offering clients the option to include the groundbreaking augmented reality feature. Adding this interactive layer to Seven Wonders of the Ancient World is a true differentiator, enabling viewers to explore, learn about, and connect with these iconic historic sites right from their own homes via on-screen QR codes.”

In Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, acclaimed historian and presenter Professor Bettany Hughes OBE retraces the footsteps of ancient warriors, pilgrims, emperors, and tourists on an epic journey through Greece, Egypt, and Turkey in search of the seven wonders of the ancient world.

Using advanced digital reconstructions, the series enables Bettany to interact with CGI replicas of these engineering marvels, filmed in the exact locations where they once stood.

In a unique collaboration with Snapchat’s AR Studio in Paris, viewers can scan on-screen QR codes with their phones to experience these digital reconstructions in augmented reality right in their homes.

This allows them to “explore” historic sites across the Mediterranean and the Middle East—such as the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, and the Statue of Zeus at Olympia—as they come to life from screen to living room.

Presenter Bettany Hughes shared: “The past is a living place, a place that matters to us all. Thanks to this deeply researched augmented reality, viewers will be able to step inside these ancient wonders. It’s an immersive experience we hope will make the past come alive for millions.”

Produced by the award-winning UK company SandStone Global as part of its co-development partnership with KI, Seven Wonders of the Ancient World was filmed on location across Turkey, Greece, and Egypt, spanning three continents.

The 3×60-minute docuseries was produced by Shula Subramaniam and directed by David Lee, with Bettany Hughes, Dixi Stewart, and Ruth Sessions serving as executive producers for SandStone Global, alongside Nick Catliff and Kelly Wright for KI.
