PowerKids Entertainment arrived at Mipcom 2026 with a new distribution deal for its The Jungle Book franchise, with Cartoon Network acquiring all four seasons for the SAARC region in South Asia, starting October 12.

Speaking with ttv, Manoj Mishra, CEO of the company, highlighted the franchise’s international growth. According to PowerKids, The Jungle Book has reached more than 165 countries across television, digital platforms and FAST services.

“We have four seasons of The Jungle Book, more than 200 episodes, and we’re building an entire universe around its characters,” the executive said, adding that the franchise has generated approximately 34 billion views worldwide, according to the company’s figures.

Alongside the original series and The Jungle Book Safari, PowerKids is promoting two spin-offs: Akira and Mowgli, featuring an older version of Mowgli and introducing a new female character to the story, and Little Mowgli, a preschool series following the character during his early years.

“What we’re trying to do is complete the entire Jungle Book universe. It’s a story we grew up with, and now our children are watching it. The characters continue to connect with different generations,” Mishra said.

The expansion also includes licensing, merchandising and live entertainment opportunities, while PowerKids explores additional possibilities for the franchise.

“There will be more Jungle Book content and more spin-offs. We’re also looking at live shows and discussing projects for the big screen with writers and designers. We hope to make announcements very soon,” he revealed.

New Productions for the International Market

Beyond its flagship franchise, PowerKids is presenting Young Achievers Academy in Cannes, a series developed in partnership with Sony Pictures Networks India and other international partners.

“It’s a story about good AI versus bad AI. We live in a world shaped by artificial intelligence, and children need to know about it and talk about it,” Mishra said.

The company is also promoting the second season of Dragonero, a co-production with Rai Kids and Sergio Bonelli Editore based on the popular Italian comic book series. The new 26-episode installment premiered in February 2026 on RaiPlay and Rai Gulp.

Another title in its lineup is Blue Boy Chronicles, an animated series inspired by Krishna, a figure from Hindu mythology, developed with international audiences in mind.

“These are stories that originate in India, but we develop them with the global market in mind,” Mishra said.
