As pioneers in vertical series production in Spain, and following the success of Una novia por Navidad, Atresmedia is gearing up for 2026 with more vertical productions, both originals and acquisitions.
Produced by Luis Cabrera and Ana Paula Carreira, from Miami
Atresmedia Sales presented two major new titles during Content Americas: its latest hit, Las hijas de la criada, and the family comedy Padre, no hay más que uno. Both are strong bets from the company’s international sales team, which also continues to push telenovelas like Sueños de libertad, a record-breaking success in Spain that has proven to resonate strongly with Latin American audiences.
Miguel García, Director of International Sales at Atresmedia Sales, shared the news with ttvnews. “We’re thrilled to be back at Content Americas. This year, we’re presenting two new titles we’re extremely proud of. On one hand, Las hijas de la criada, which has been the latest hit from Atresmedia Productions. The audience numbers and performance after its launch on Atresplayer exceeded all the records we had on the platform in the last quarter. We’re thrilled with the series, which will soon move on, as an exclusive title, to air on Antena 3,” he said.
Las hijas de la criada is the television adaptation of the bestselling novel by Sonsoles Ónega, winner of the 2023 Premio Planeta. It’s a gripping telenovela set in Galicia in the early 1900s, centered on a family that made its fortune in Cuba at the end of the 19th century and now runs its businesses in Galicia.
“It’s a very intense novela, with eight 50-minute episodes, and I’m convinced it will work perfectly in Latin America. We’ve already received interest from several players and channels. On the other hand, we’re also bringing a family comedy. It’s been a while since we brought a comedy like this, one that can bring the whole family together in front of the TV,” García added.
Padre no hay más que uno, the series, consists of two episodes and is produced by Bowfinger International Pictures and Sony Pictures for Atresmedia and Amazon Prime Video. It tells the story of a family with five children who, due to a new job the mother takes, are forced to move to another city and will do everything they can to return to their hometown, where their friends and school are.
“Beyond that, we continue to push Sueños de libertad, our daily telenovela, which already has more than 400 episodes and is halfway through its second season. It remains the most-watched daily fiction in Spain, day after day, nonstop since 2024. While it’s running on HBO Max in Latin America, we’re still looking for opportunities on free-to-air television so broadcasters can take a chance on a Spanish telenovela that I’m sure will perform extremely well. We know Latin American audiences enjoy Spanish telenovelas, and proof of that is the success our series are having on platforms,” said the Atresmedia international sales executive.
More vertical series in 2026
Regarding vertical content, García said they are very pleased with the performance of their first vertical series. “Atresmedia is once again a pioneer in content, new genres, and bold bets. We produced the first vertical series in Spain, Una novia por Navidad, which we launched last December. Honestly, its performance exceeded all our expectations. We’re extremely happy and I can already confirm that there will be more Atresmedia vertical series in 2026. They’re already in production, and we’ll likely complement them with the acquisition of a vertical series from another player as well,” the executive concluded.
